I remember reading a thread a while back about effective ways to treat this. Can’t find the thread anymore and now my child is plagued with them! Does anyone have any good advice/ treatments or remedies that worked for them? I know the doctor won’t do much unless they are infected. Posting in AIBU as that’s where I saw the last thread. Thanks in advance.

Dabbing neat tea tree oil on worked for us.

Funnyfive · 09/06/2023 19:32

We used molludab which got rid of it.

Cincinnatus · 09/06/2023 19:33

Molludab will work.

YukoandHiro · 09/06/2023 19:33

Tea tree (and time) helped for us too

Dacadactyl · 09/06/2023 19:33

I just left it when my son had it and it went away on its own.

Confrontayshunme · 09/06/2023 19:34

It was probably mine! My DD had them from age 6 months until 4. It took SO LONG. I tried everything. In the end, they all went within a week.

EarringsandLipstick · 09/06/2023 19:34

Time, mainly. They will go themselves.

ThisSummerBetterBeDarnGood · 09/06/2023 19:35

T tree oil so far but why do they come?

SarahLucSc · 09/06/2023 19:36

Time was the only thing that made a difference for both my children. Took about 18 months for both.

Megifer · 09/06/2023 19:36

Also suggest molludab sorted mine right out within about 3 weeks including one on my eyelid that I took a risk with

(Also worked on a very stubborn sebaceous cyst)

EssexCat · 09/06/2023 19:39

Molludab for both my children. Once they started to clear up they went completely in about 2 weeks.

RausageSoul · 09/06/2023 19:39

You need to find the 'queen' this will be the most prominent spot. If you can draw this out, with molludab or popping it, the rest will vanish. It's such a lie lying thing the body doesn't know to heal it until you trigger it.

The queen popped out like a little pearl, then it vanished over a day or so after being covered for almost a year!

Ginforone · 09/06/2023 19:39

Colidal Silver worked brilliantly for us, cleared them up in no time

traintraveller · 09/06/2023 19:39

They usually go away on their own eventually but crystacide cream can be useful.

Cammac · 09/06/2023 19:40

Tea tree oil will dry them out but only time will get rid. There will come a time when you realise the spots have all gone.

There’s no quick fix 😏

illiterato · 09/06/2023 19:41

The reason they don’t go away is because they exist in the upper layer of the skin so the child’s immune system doesn’t realise they are there. Moludab and astringents like tea tree oil basically work by irritating the skin and the immune system pops up to have a look what’s going on and sees the Moluscum and reacts to it.

The other way to achieve this which is 100% not recommended but does work is squeeze a few ( need to be careful not to spread them- I squeezed them to remove the core with tweezers, then swabbed with alcohol). Literally 2 days later all the others went really red and then disappeared- I’d managed to provoke some huge immune response. Worth a try if your child isn’t squeamish.

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 09/06/2023 19:43

We used this. My DD had had them on the back of her knee for about 4 months. Four weeks of this and they went.

Just here for a handhold as it’s a total fucker! Is it just me or did this not exist when we were kids??? It’s bloody everywhere now

sequin2000 · 09/06/2023 19:50

Molludab and don't delay! My daughter has loads of scars from itching them before we found the holy grail!

Spongecake556 · 09/06/2023 19:50

I agree- don’t remember them when I was a kid!

Thanks everyone- I’ve ordered some Molludab- that’s what I’d read about the last time. Wouldn’t care if he didn’t mind but he’s getting really down about having them.

My DD fell over and ripped the Queen off, they disappeared in days.
I carefully irritated younger DDs in a similar fashion and it did work... but it was painful.

TheEverdelightfulsamantha · 09/06/2023 19:55

We tried molludab - by the only result was really horrible excema all over the area - worse that just the molloscum itself! Most of them went after two years or so, now just one really stubborn bugger right in the crease of her elbow - I’d love to squeeze it but DD is the dramatic type so I’ll never get near it. Yes to PP who said no one seemed to have it when we were kids!

Treecreature · 09/06/2023 19:56

I had these when I was a kid (early 90s). The doctor gave us a scalpel and some cream (sorry don't know what it was - too long ago). My mum had to cut each little wart open and put the cream in the wound. Apparently it was more effective this way. I was not a happy 7 year old when my mum came at me with the scalpel!!

WonderingWanda · 09/06/2023 19:58

My dd had some of this last year but it seems to have gone on it's own accord. I've heard it can pop up elsewhere on the body is this likely once they have all disappeared?

JustCheckIt · 09/06/2023 19:58

Day one - wash with soap and apply tea tree
Day two - wash with soap and apply calendula cream
gone in two weeks
