Is business class worth it with two toddlers ?

Would it make the journey better ? My DH absolutely refuses do go long haul with our 1 and 3 year olds.

Would flying business actually make it any easier ? The one year old would still be on one of our laps. The three year old would their own seat etc.

Has anyone done this ? It's so much more expensive and I don't want to do it, unless it will make a considerable difference.

Oh my god they just get better and better with each post.

I've found it quite entertaining too

Once my seat is out, my wine is in hand and my headphones are on I couldnt care who is in the seat beside me!

This! In fact, I'd much RATHER encounter kids in business than in Economy. In business, it's much easier to sleep anyway, so other noises are less likely to be disturbing.

Bit selfish on the other passengers who have paid a lot of money to fly business to have their flight interrupted by two screaming bored toddlers.

Speak for your own kids not mine. Not all toddlers are like yours. Mine have never been one bit of bother on flights.

TakeMe2Insanity · 09/06/2023 21:05

Flown multiple times since dc born (inc toddler age) in business class, is it worth it? Yes for the space. If you have a lap child you pretty much have them with you in a pod and you can do what you do without somebody being immediately adjacent to you.

Hahaha I honestly couldn't care less about other people. I'm just thinking whether it will be better for us or not even worth it.

Yeah, kind of figured you wouldn’t care about fellow travellers. I paid extra to get away from screaming kids whose parents wouldn’t parent and ended up with the brat from hell all the way to NY. Bet you let your kid run around in restaurants too.

I bet you are pleased you asked the question now OP! Who knew it would cause such an uproar. Have a lovely holiday.

I get really annoyed by the attitude of some who think the blanket answer is not to take children long haul and then there are those who are convinced it is not possible to fly with young children at all. Business class or economy- it is just parenting. As in most situations you do your best to avoid disruption for others and set boundaries expectations. As long as your children are not left to kick seats/run up and down the aisles/are distracted when they may start to do the things kids do in enclosed spaces which bother other people then just get on with it. There is a special place in hell for parents who hand a child a tablet/phone without headphones and I always will turn to them if behind and infront to ask that they children use them and most meekly comply!

Honestly we have flown with DC since 3 months old several times a year and never had any issues. Yes you cannot just sit back and drink wine and maybe have to be in entertainment mode for the duration of the flight when young, but it is just one of those things. DC now a teen and prefers to not sit anywhere near me and flying is a bit like taking a bus for them.

I thought it was funny 🤣🤣

I can just about afford Ryanair

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 09/06/2023 21:16

I would have loved to been able to afford business when we took the kids to America last year (DS aged 3 and DS aged 14 months). They were both perfect on the way out but struggled with the red eye on the way back cause they were tired and couldn't get comfortable. I think having a 'bed' and more space in business class would have made a huge difference. So YANBU and I see no reason not to book business class if you can afford it, although as someone else mentioned I'd check the seat configuration cause some configurations would make it difficult to reach over and do stuff for/with your toddler.

We're getting those inflatable things to go in the foot well and make them both beds next time we fly. They'll be aged 2 and 4 when we go next time.

I definitely think long haul is fine with kids if you're a seasoned flyer and go prepared. Short haul is absolutely doable and no different to a long train ride.

I don't understand the hate you're receiving OP. From what I can tell most of it seems to come from people who don't fly often but seem to have very strong opinions on what people should/shouldn't be allowed to do on a plane 😕. If anything the people who have/do fly business are saying they wouldn't care. Everyone else complaining appears to be outraged on their behalf - very weird. 😄

Thread seems to have got a bit distracted, but does anyone know which airlines don't allow toddlers in business? ( Asking for a friend Grin)
