To be feeling a bit sorry for myself?

My DH and I moved about 10 months ago. We went through a rough patch, have just come out the other side stronger than ever and now I've found out I've got a congenital deformity in my joints. I don't have enough sick leave to cover my time off work and I really don't know what to do.

Life can be hard sometimes. I'm so scared work will just get rid of me

I don't really have much advice regarding the work worry but I am truly sorry you're going through a hard time. If you have a employee handbook or something similar, have a look for any policies regarding sick leave or maybe a doctors note. If you've been with the company for a decent amount of time and generally perform well, I can't see why they would get rid of you. In the space of 2 years, I had 4 weeks off after a thyroidectomy and 7 weeks overall for mental health reasons and I was feeling the exact same way so I can understand how anxious you're feeling. I hope you feel as better as you can soon

@IneedcoffeeinanIV thank you for your kind words. I have been with the company for 6 months, so I feel like they don't really owe me anything, although I have been the best employee I could be and haven't had any time off yet. I'm sorry you had your health issues to contend with, it all feels a bit much sometimes 💐

Even though you've only been with them for 6 month, it's still definitely worth speaking with them about it all and seeing where you stand. At the very least, it'll give you some perspective on it which will hopefully ease some of your anxieties about it all ❤️ If they're not overly helpful or sensitive to the situation, then maybe you're just better off somewhere with more empathy within their policies
