my ds as you all would know by now has speech delay and review came back saying he is atypical in social communication and doesnt seem to notice other children at playschool and needs monitoring

well this morning i took him in and he went into soft play area and was speaking out colours and numbers and shapes

attempting to talk to other little boy and all this went unnoticed by teacher whi is supposed to be monitoring him who then walks up to him and snatches toy he was holding without a please or thank you

they are supposed to be encouraging speech by showing him how to communicate properly they say about him snatching toys and teacher does this to him how is this showing him correct behaviour lol

anyway i went and pointed out his efforts to another teacher who witnessed him trying to talk to little boy and heard him saying colours and shapes and then she said she would go round and make notes on what he was saying

it really annoys me that it comes back he is not trying he doesnt notice other children atypical behaviour and yet clearly witnessed him socially interracting

i have been so worried about all this but so happy i have witnessed him doing it but they have a plan of action to follow to help him and am so worried he is just left to his own devises as they clearly are not notising what i saw today and it was perfectly normal behaviour

The teacher snatched the toy?

kitbit · 21/02/2008 12:27

am very shocked that the teacher snatched the toy full stop, regardless of anything else. If you feel they rae not meeting your son's needs can you move nurseries? Especially in light of this teacher.

its the only pre school in my area but will just keep check on his reports every session to make sure action plan being done as it was quite upsetting

but still i'm just glad i saw with my own eyes how well he was doing things can only look up from here
