Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

No I don't hover - I sit

Obv have no idea what others do

HidingInAForest · 07/06/2023 09:47

Just what I was thinking - re chairs, restaurants etc.

It's a strange hang up people have and the few on here that have it seem proud of it!

I wonder if it harks back to generations ago when there was less understanding of germs? I know the whole Jim Crow laws made White people scared to sit on a loo a black person had used ( :( ) as if it was "dirty."

Also in the 80s with the fear of HIV and not knowing how it spread might be where some people's parents go the idea from.

But it really is a small minority that now have this hang up I would imagine.

Stalkedbyzombies · 07/06/2023 09:47

I wee-ly wee-ly dread growing old and no longer being able to hover.

Moonlightsonatas · 07/06/2023 09:48

There’s significantly more risk of catching something from the door handle on the way out

wowie69 · 07/06/2023 09:48

Never hover unless it's a particularly grubby festival toilet or similar.

Stalkedbyzombies · 07/06/2023 09:49

I don't touch the door stopper or the flush. I pull paper out and quickly throw it in the second after I have pressed the flush button.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 07/06/2023 09:49

I always sit properly, the only time I hover is when using those dystopian seaside metal loos with no seat, because they are so cold!

WarmWinterSun · 07/06/2023 09:49

I have to sit because I’m really short and can only manage to hover if I do it on tiptoes which is pretty hard! If hovering is what causes dirty seats the. the guilty culprits need to stop

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2023 09:17

Are you a foot flusher too?

🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 07/06/2023 09:53

Women shouldn't be allowed to use public toilets until they're toilet trained and can use a toilet correctly, which means sitting on it and not pissing all over the seat.

Pushmepullu · 07/06/2023 09:55

Read that Apparently you are more likely to end up with a uti if you hover than from anything on a toilet seat, it’s because you don’t empty your bladder properly. I’m not sure if this is true as it would mean women in countries that have squatty toilets would have permanent utis

Moveoverdarlin · 07/06/2023 09:55

I never hover. Just sit down. Still alive to tell the tale.

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2023 07:55

I used to do this until my Dyson got too unwieldy to lug round the shopping mall so now I just take a dustpan and brush instead.

😂😂

xogossipgirlxo · 07/06/2023 09:56

I stopped doing it since I'm pregnant and more conscious about my pelvic floor. I'm OK btw., no infections or anything. Apparently our mobile phones have more germs on than toilet seats.

Squatting is a completely different position to hovering. Squatting will make it easier to fully empty bladder and bowels.

Stalkedbyzombies · 07/06/2023 09:57

I would always aim to leave it clean. One day, my mother said that she was in a hurry and ended up sitting in somebody else's puddle which horrified me to the core.

I never hover over the seat. Haven't caught anything horrific yet.

Don't think I have either

MintGreenLife · 07/06/2023 09:58

I was so concerned when I spotted this thread title, thinking I'd been cleaning the toilet wrong all my life! Just to confirm, I personally do hover in public toilets.

bryceQ · 07/06/2023 09:59

I always hover, don't find it especially hard on legs. I don't wee on the seat. But I generally avoid public toilets to be honest

Lovetotravel123 · 07/06/2023 10:00

If everyone just sat down then we wouldn’t have to wipe the seat.

Stalkedbyzombies · 07/06/2023 10:00

I wish I could stand on the seat and squat, Asian style. Unfortunately, I don't quite have that level of flexibility and would end up being carted out half-soaked in piss in an ambulance. I reckon our toilets aren't designed for it.

Florissante · 07/06/2023 10:01

Squatting is done when there is no western toilet but is 'Turkish' style. Anyone who stands on a toilet seat in a public place should be banned from using them.

Same. It's really not necessary and just increases UTI risk as it's harder to fully empty your bladder.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 07/06/2023 10:02

I hover!
Didn't realise it was so unusual til I read this thread 😂

Yes - when squatting your thighs are below your knees, when hovering they are above your knees.
