Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

I don't know anyone who doesn't hover. I was taught to hover as a kid so since then it's been pretty standard practice.

You ask everyone you know if they sit or hover? No one has ever asked me that in my entire life.

I just piss myself to save having to use the plague-infested Petri dishes that are public toilets.

😂

MovinGroovinBarbie · 07/06/2023 19:54

I put paper on the seat.

Attictroll · 07/06/2023 19:57

Never hovered and always assume the nasty drips are from hoverers. So they all create a viscous circle for each other. Creating more hoverers.

It's bum flesh not open bits touching the seat ffs ...not open bits. It's the same as putting a hand on a rail if no mess on it.

I should have phrased it differently. I suppose I probably do know some people who don't hover because it's not a conversation I've had with every single person I know or have met. But my close family and friends yes - this has come up at one or two points in conversation and all of them are 100% hoverers!

'So they all create a viscous circle for each other.'

Ew, a viscous wee circle. 🤢

DuesToTheDirt · 07/06/2023 20:18

Just wipe it, if you want, and sit down. Job done! If the seat looks disgusting though I wouldn't use it anyway, I'd pick a different cubicle.

Hovering is tricky and makes it harder to go. Squatting is better than hovering, but obviously not an option for UK toilets.

I heard that there are poo particles in the new hand driers as people never wash hands fully - as taught during Covid- so minute poo particles fly around.
I’m more worried about that.
Mind you I go swimming daily so probably swimming in urine. Also I drink water from a tap that’s probably circulated a few times.

Yes women are 100% honest about their personal habits in face to face conversation with close family and only lie about it when anonymous on the internet.

Have you stopped to think that there will be molecules of bus drivers' farts in the air that you breathe?

This thread is for some reason reminding me of the WC Fields quote "I never drink water because fish fuck in it."

PoppyPP · 07/06/2023 20:29

If everyone sat on the seat, it wouldn’t be covered in piss!!

I always sit. Usually need to wipe the seat cos someone else has missed the bowl.

The worst public toilet I saw had dirty shoe prints on the actual seat!! Actual black marks of shoe tread clearly visible and they’d managed to shit down the lifted lid and back of the seat. Dirty bugger 😠 Toilet was totally unusable because someone decided to practice their gymnastics whilst taking a shit!!

BCBird · 07/06/2023 20:32

Plonk my lard arse on the seat. Need to.pee in comfort🤣

DojaPhat · 07/06/2023 20:48

@FKATondelayo But that's not true... as this thread demonstrates Confused

I cannot believe how many people sit on a public toilet seat 🤮never in a million years would I do that.

I hover and always wipe the seat if needs be.

Why? What's going to happen if you sit on it? Absolutely nothing

I used to do this until my Dyson got too unwieldy to lug round the shopping mall so now I just take a dustpan and brush instead.

🤣🤣🤣

NeedANewPhone1 · 07/06/2023 07:59

I sit. The seat touches the back of my legs. I don't use this body part for eating or anything else and I cover it with clothing. I wash my clothing. I don't worry about germs from this scenario.

Me too, hovering above the seat is almost as mad as hoovering the seat!

DragonDoor · 07/06/2023 21:04

GoneAwayWorld · 07/06/2023 08:00

This.
I don't hover, I sit. I find it very upsetting when women who hover wee on the toilet seat and then don't clean it.
If everyone just sat it would be much more hygienic.

Exactly. Hoverers leave the seat a mess.

It actually makes me angry to see that some people have been too precious to sit on a toilet seat, yet don’t care about leaving it covered in pee for the next person coming in.

It’s disgusting

Cherryblossom99 · 07/06/2023 21:11

I always sit properly, I already have bladder issues that lead to retention and incontinence and I know that hovering makes it more difficult to fully empty the bladder, increasing UTI risk.

PurpleAirGuitar · 07/06/2023 21:17

I've never done that in my entire adulthood (I think I might have done it when I was fairly little because I saw my mum doing it), and I don't normally wipe the seat either, only if it looks dirty. To the best of my knowledge I've never had any illness arising from these preferences.

ThursdayFreedom · 07/06/2023 21:17

Morestrangerthings · 07/06/2023 08:25

I have a thing about people not putting the lid down when they flush. Seriously, why do people flush with the lid up? It splashes tiny droplets about 6 feet. If you don’t close the lid and flush, chances are you are then wearing some of what is already in the toilet. You can’t see it, but it’s there.

@Morestrangerthings because I'm not touching any more of the public toilet than I absolutely have to (namely the flush)

Isis1981uk · 07/06/2023 21:19

I've literally never hovered. I just don't think about, or care about, any possible toilet germs! Still here 🤣

seawitchhair · 08/06/2023 00:38

WhatALightbulbMoment · 07/06/2023 18:39

You do realise that only a fraction of wees are had on public toilets? It's not going to have much impact on the likelihood of UTIs, pelvic floor problems etc.

Perhaps you've heard tell of thing called the office? People at work have to pee; also, people out in restaurants, pubs, clubs, visiting others' houses. In any case, I am not a urologist or a urogynaecologist - just repeating what they say.

reddragon7 · 08/06/2023 00:44

I’ve never been able to hover, cos how can you be so confident the person goes straight down, and doesn’t trickle down the side of your thighs??!!! I am not the most balanced person 😂 I always give the toilet seat a good wipe before and after using it anyway. I normally wet tissue and use a bit of hand-wash to clean it, then wipe it dry, so I can feel a little more comfortable sitting on the seat.
