We own a cursed spoon…

BeGoneSpoon · 07/06/2023 06:34

DH thinks I’m insane, obviously. But 12 years ago we moved into our first flat and there was one item, ONE ITEM, remaining in it when we moved in: a child’s metal spoon with a picture of a staring teddy bear on it and the name ‘Michael’. At first we found it quite charming, calling it The Michael Spoon, and we brought it with us each time we moved house after that.

It took us a stupidly long time to realise that that had been when we started to experience tragedy after tragedy. We’ve had several deaths in the family, some really horrible, and such a lot of bad luck that people freely comment on it.

I don’t think I really believe in cursed things but this spoon now gives me the creeps to such an extent that I’m desperate for it to be gone. The trouble is, if we just chuck it in the sea or something, might the curse stay with us as the last people who had it, and then we couldn’t find it to change that? I’ve Googled curse removal but there are too many different options and apparently it can make the curse worse! Any suggestions? Please help!

Saw a woman dealing with cursed stuff once. She was a Christian believer and used the phrase 'In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I charge you 'Do no harm!''

Have you tried asking the spoon?

Asking might be a bit encouraging.
Tell the spoon you are not interested in spooky business and need to get on with your lives happily from now on.

I bet you’re fun to watch LOTR with! If only the ring had been recycled in the correct manner…

Maybe the OP should find a small, trusty friend and set off on a quest to return the Spoon of Doom to the forge in which it was created?

How close are you to Sheffield, OP?

I have been a bit suspicious about my Chinese jade money tree (crassula ovata) which is supposed to be lucky/good feng shui energy etc but it died about a year ago, we'd had it a good 15 years, and then some awful things happened.

I'm sure it's all just coincidence, but just to be on the safe side, I now have a new one which is going strong. Nice plants anyway.

LadyFlumpalot · 08/06/2023 17:05

Don't throw it into the sea. If fairytales have taught me anything it's that a giant fish will swallow it and the next time you have fish for tea, lo and behold, you will find your spoon on your dinner plate.

Which would be fine if the spoon shared her Christianity, but otherwise, surely it’s like telling someone ‘I charge you in the name of Beelzebub to pick up your dog’s crap!’?

Ketzele · 08/06/2023 18:10

Give me the spoon? I'll take it off your hands.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/06/2023 18:20

It isn’t a cursed spoon but it’s easy to link bad luck with it.

Having said this a few years ago my DM was given either a carving or print block with fairies or goblins or something on it. She didn’t like it as it made her feel uneasy but sent it or gave it to a friend who she thought was into unusual items especially wooden ones. Friend sent it straight back saying it was cursed and evil. DM posted it to V&A.

FeigningConcern · 08/06/2023 18:35

Find someone you don't like and give it to them 😉

PICK UPYOUR DOGSHIT! IN THE NAME OF BEELZEBUB! Is something I am going to find it difficult not to howl at people in the high street from now on … Maybe we should all do it? Can’t hurt…

No, Maud. The idea is that the God in Whom the speaker believed was God of all, and the spoon would have to obey any direction from God.

MrsToothyBitch · 08/06/2023 19:20

I believe you. Rationally I shouldn't but I have had three evil eye charms on my charm bracelet. All have broken or disappeared- none of my other charms have. I think they're meant to go when they've protected you from something - .
I don't consider myself a particularly "lucky" person so god knows what horrors they've stopped! DP is similarly pretty rational but believes in my evil eyes and their mysterious demises.

Similarly I've just thrown out some items I was forced to accept from someone who did me a wrong. I just don't want them in my home- it feels like intrusion.

Therefore maybe choose the advice that resonates best on this thread and follow it.

Yes, but a believer in Beelzebub would believe similarly, and both invocations would have a similar result.

You need to contact a local ghost hunting team. Who would take this off your hands and look into it. I got a strange feeling when I read your message and I pictured a young child of about 18 month. Who it's alleged died suddenly. I feel like his death took place in a small kitchen with a brown kitchen unit with very few units at all, unsure if this is the flat you mentioned but I feel like the death was recorded as an accident when it wasn't one and Michael's spirit is attached to that spoon. I have a strong image of him being placed in his cot unconscious before the alarm was raised but this wasn't where he died. I feel he was killed by the only person who he ever knew properly I assume she's his mother I get a dark haired lady in her early 20's who blamed the child for her boyfriend leaving her while pregnant. The child was named after him. She moved out after his death but the spoon played a large part in his death and was the last thing he saw other than her. I don't think he intends harm on you or your family but he is confused and has built up negative energy and that negative energy follows the spoon. A good ghost hunting team may be able to get him to move on.

puddleduckmummy · 08/06/2023 19:40

Clearly you need to move house and leave the spoon there

OfficerPastiche · 08/06/2023 20:04

Ask the church for help?? Any wiccans/spiritualist groups near you?

Missingpop · 08/06/2023 20:05

😂😂😂😂😂😂 There’s always a gullible one isn’t there; try stirring you tea three times anti clock wise; 7 times clock wise tap on tge edge of the mug 8 times & ask Michael to vacate the spoon & leave ted in peace 😂😂😂😂

VinoVeritas1 · 08/06/2023 20:12

It needs to go back to the house where it belongs. Objects can hold grounded energy, positive and negative (most objects are neutral.) Grounded energy is somewhat easier to manage than roaming energy, which moves at volition between objects and if powerful enough, can attach itself to
people. However even grounded objects may, over time, attach themselves to a particular location or emotional “birth-place” and given the spoon is a baby one I think this is what has developed. Think about how you can get it back to its rightful place. I assure you it will be at peace there

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 08/06/2023 21:17

I have a cursed knife- its the knife I used to scrape the poo off my sons reusable nappies. I kept it and make sure its used as cutlery for anyone that's pissed me off 😁. Its perfectly clean but knowing what it was used for gives me sweet pleasure if someone has crossed me😂

Mamanyt · 08/06/2023 23:29

OK, if you are really concerned about this, take the spoon and put it in a fabric bag. Take the bag to the nearest stream. Submerge the bag in the water under the full moon. Leave it there for at least three days, then retrieve it, and either bury it, or donate it. Running water will cleanse curses.

BTW, they are very, very rare. I doubt the spoon is cursed, but it's an easy fix.

Oh, if there is no running water near you, submerge it in a deep dish of salt. There should be enough salt that the spoon is completely covered. Again, on the full of the moon, and for three days. BTW...for this purpose, the moon is "full" for three days before and for three days after the actual full moon.

Yes, but a believer in Beelzebub would believe similarly, and both invocations would have a similar result.

Beelzebub is a major demon and not God. Even demons know their place in the order of things which is why they hate God, yet demons must obey God as the highest authority. Humans are given the next highest authority through Jesus for the deliverance of evil from people, and curses. That’s why demons hate us.

OP - reach out to a Christian deliverance minister. They deliver people from curses all the time and there’s nothing to be afraid of, especially on the off chance your situation could improve.

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 10/06/2023 12:03

No point in throwing it in the sea. It'll be back in the drawer when you get home.

in the nicest possible way, @amispeakingintongues, that schema is only valid if you’re a Christian believer. For me, and for a lot of other people, Beelzebub and God are both fictional characters from a particular narrative of the cosmos, and their likely impact on a malevolent spoon is equally fictitious. It’s the same as asking whether Samwise Gamgee has to obey Theoden of Rohan.

amispeakingintongues · 10/06/2023 12:14

@MaudGonneOutForChips don't worry, I had managed to guess you weren't a Christian. Thing is. It's not all a fairytale as your propose; i'm talking from real life experience with these spiritual entities, and my own experience of deliverance, not mere blind faith or repeating something i've read.

Nor am i asking you to believe in what i'm saying, but I am correcting you on the spiritual order of things, many scholars and philosophers who have studied the bible and demonology would agree.
