Told I don’t look my age

I told a friend of a friend my age today and they said “oh you don’t look it” implying I look younger I believe. I don’t know but is this a bit offensive or a compliment?

Why would it be offensive to suggest you look younger than your age?

Cranfor · 06/06/2023 20:57

Depends if they meant older or younger!

They meant younger I think, just not had anyone really say that to me before

Women are supposed to be terrified of ageing and find it complimentary when people tell them they look youthful. It will have been intended as a compliment, though whether or not it’s actually true or your friend is just being nice is anyone’s guess. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

I get you mean that the implication is that there's something wrong with your age. But tbh people mostly just make these throwaway comments without thinking.

TrueScrumptious · 06/06/2023 21:01

Isn’t it something that people often say? It’s meant to be a compliment.

Devastateddaughter · 06/06/2023 21:02

Tbh , there's not much else someone can say when told how old someone is, unless they're brutally honest and either say you look 42 or whatever age you are, or even worse, say you look older.
