So far after seeing it mentioned on here, it has removed my skin tags and has finally started to cure my toenail of the start of a fungal infection- I can't believe it!
It's so simple and everything else I had tried hadn't worked!

I will add this, a lot of people obvioulsy haven't read previous posts (not just mine, but most others) which is normal on here.

Do not buy cheap versions of oils without checking what you are getting.
Check online for what and how to use, and when, Tisserand site is useful, Neals Yard used to be but I am not sure it is still a good one.

Buy pure essential oil, not a blend unless it is a reputable brand. Mix it yourself to dilute, use a carrier oil which is a vegetable oil, a decent one, thicker is best for small applications, walnut, avocado are good. If you have nothing else, a good olive oil. Not Crisp & Dry/rapeseed shite. Look for quantities/ratios online to mix.

Do not go out in the sun while using it, especially if you decide to use it neat, it can destroy your skin if used neat but can also burn you.

Aromatherapy/essential oils are potent and not to be messed with which is why some countries insist on a special qualification before a licence can be issued to practice. In this country people can take it as part of a beauty course which is really bad as they can cause harm if used wrongly. It makes a joke of those of us who studied and took proper exams over a number of years to ensure they didn't damage anyone.

Essential oils are antiseptic. All have different properties. They should not be messed with unless you know what you are doing. Sadly a lot of people have no idea, read something and just jump in. Anyone can buy them, anyone can cause damage with them, please be aware of what you are using before you go ahead.

PenanceAdair · 06/06/2023 15:40

Also, a little goes a long way. Although with scalp, I mix with oil or cream/lotion as applying directly is too harsh. Depends on your skin/scalp/body and what it can take. So do a patch test first.

MonumentalLentil · 06/06/2023 15:41

Forgot to add, do a spot test before you use it. You may think you have no allergies, but if it turns out later that you did, you could regret being hasty.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/06/2023 15:42

It was brilliant on my infected c section scar and dissolved dissolvable stitches hadn't dissolved.

Helenahandkart · 06/06/2023 10:41

Be really careful using it neat. You can sensitise your skin to it and get really bad reactions.
I can’t go anywhere near it anymore after making that mistake.

I agree. For anyone who's not tried it before I'd recommend testing on a small area. I have sensitive skin and as a teen in the 80s was told that tea tree oil was a good thing to put on my (with hindsight barely noticable) spots so painted it on across the top of my nose, over my cheeks and across my forehead before bed. Woke up the next morning with 'Adam Ant' style red marks that could not be covered with any amount of concealer. Not a good look. I can laugh now.

i wonder if it works on mila i have a few around my eyes and hate them

I’d like to know this too.

007DoubleOSeven · 06/06/2023 16:13

Does it have an expiry date?

I have an unused bottle in my bathroom cabinet but it's been there a few years!

BodegaSushi · 06/06/2023 17:02

crochetmonkey74 · 06/06/2023 09:26

I applied it directly (my bottle has a pipette thing) So I held tissue on the skin around it and just applied it direct. 2 skin tags off in 3 days!

It kind of crusts them a bit and you can twist them with no pain- then they just fell off!

What?! 🤯 as a PCOS sufferer I have LOADS of skin tags, I shall be trying this pronto

Whatnowfgs · 06/06/2023 17:07

Just a warning "Tea Tree oil" is very poisonous. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Toxic to dogs and cats.

nachotemple · 06/06/2023 17:16

Also another thing to be wary of is certain essential oils like teatree and lavender can mess with your hormone levels. I have endometriosis and have to be super careful with them as I find they can trigger it to be much worse. Use with care. They are also not recommended for use on kids, as they can trigger things like gynecomastia in boys. If you're considering using on children ensure you've read up on this.

How funny, I was going to post something similar!

I've been using (superdrug's own) neat tea tree oil on three manky toenails since March. I've had them since I was about 13 (now 40!) and was always under the impression they were because of damage to the nail bed as I danced pointe at that age.

However, when my big toenail started going manky, I decided to give it a go. I didn't want Terbinifine from the doctor again as you can't take it long term (it did work btw, but then I had to have blood tests before I could have a second run and it came back).

Anyway - thanks if you're still with me Grin - I was cutting my toenails yesterday and realised that one of them, the top of the nail I could just pull off as underneath was healthy growth. So it works, but it takes time.

Downside is I'm obsessed with the smell.

How did you apply it?

jeffgoldblum · 06/06/2023 18:34

@MonumentalLentil , I'm not pregnant now , my last is now 9! But I developed lots of skin tags around the base of my neck with each pregnancy, too many to remove individually at cost , so this was why I was asking if teatree cream or if it could be added to something that could be rubbed on .

Helenahandkart · 06/06/2023 18:55

crochetmonkey74 · 06/06/2023 10:53

ooh thanks
what can happen?

I was able to use it with no ill effects for several years but then I developed a sensitivity to it. I got a really bad rash like eczema. Now, whenever I’m stressed or run down, the same area of skin flairs up even though it’s been 15 years since I used tea tree oil. I have to check products to see if they contain it because I will get a horrendous itchy painful reaction to it.
I once used a tea tree mouthwash and all my gums swelled up in huge blisters.

People in the know always advise diluting it in a carrier oil.

Thanks for this advice. Will definitely get a carrier oil

There are some bad ones. Cinnamon oil is highly allergenic ime. Brings me out in a terrible rash and they put in in toothpaste so I can’t use a lot of them.

BigCheeseSandwich · 06/06/2023 19:24

I put a few drops into each new bottle of the kids’ conditioner - acts as a nit repellent (no idea if it really works but they’re almost teens and never had nits).

venus7 · 06/06/2023 19:26

bluebell34567 · 06/06/2023 11:59

what is 'carrier oil'?
any examples?

A bland...usually...oil that you use to dilute, or 'carry' the essential oil.
Examples are evening primrose, sunflower, safflower, almond, jojoba.

itsgettingweird · 06/06/2023 19:42

Yea tree oil gets rid of skin tags Shock

I know what I'm doing this weekend now 🤣🤣

Emmelina · 06/06/2023 19:42

It’s amazing!
headlice? Shake some into some conditioner!
spots? Dab some on
open pores? Tea tree.
funny smell lingering in the nostrils? Huff some oil.

Helenahandkart · 06/06/2023 19:43

If you have skin tags you can just snip them off with a pair of sterilised nail scissors. The thought of it is a bit scary, but it doesn’t hurt much at all. A very quick sharp sting like pricking your finger. Even my very pain-averse husband doesn’t mind having them removed.

ZIEVAR · 06/06/2023 20:29

I have developed blue moles on my face and body. Would TT oil help with these?

Outofthepark · 06/06/2023 21:08

Had a horrific rash once that covered my whole body years ago, with small raised round welts that crusted over (sorry, grim!!). The doctor didn't know what it was and said I'd just have to wait for it to go away on its own (definitely not ringworm, though it sounded like it).

Anyway, I was scared witless of it coming back, and it would always start up again when I was stressed, then I found that if I put a bit of neat tea tree on it, it stopped it dead in its tracks immediately. It's amazing!!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 06/06/2023 21:24

Time4achangeagain · 06/06/2023 18:20

How did you apply it?

The bottles I've got have got those dropper insert things in them, I just apply straight from the bottle to the affected nail a couple of times a day. I can see healthy regrowth in the big toe nail, but not quite there yet. Forgot to add that!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 06/06/2023 21:25

@Time4achangeagain if you're worried or have sensitive skin then I'd just buy a cheap set of art paintbrushes from poundland or whatever and apply like that.

User65412 · 06/06/2023 21:25

My new years resolution was to get rid of my manky toenails which I've had for 15 years (I blame dance and sports). Six months in using tea tree oil, my big toe is nearly half grown out! A very slow process but it works. I alternate with antifungal cream. I apply using an old eyeshadow brush.
Might make a thread with progress pics... Yes I've been taking them. 😂
