So far after seeing it mentioned on here, it has removed my skin tags and has finally started to cure my toenail of the start of a fungal infection- I can't believe it!
It's so simple and everything else I had tried hadn't worked!

Any oil. It doesn't have to be a massage oil, veg oil from the kitchen will do. Just your masseuse won't use that!

I worked in a well known Spa/health farm decades ago. We had to use veg oil for massage. It was grim. It was well known locally that’s what was used. Nasty gritty oil.

On holiday in Indonesia once, there was an Asian lady who put a couple of drops on her toothbrush every morning, underneath the toothpaste. She said it kept away ulcers, bad breath and inflections.

I've tried the Boots one and the Body Shop one and not noticed any difference between them really. Both were good.

Home Bargains, £1 for a vial. I was brought up on this stuff, nits, spots, cleaning. Use to this day and it's very cheap.

HowcanIgetoutofthisalive · 06/06/2023 12:19

Please don't use neat essential oils on your skin. As previous posters have commented, it may cause issues later down the line i.e. over sensitivity if used a lot. It's a common myth that oils such as Tea Tree, Lavender, Neroli can be used neat but you really need to be careful.

Always blend with a carrier oil such as olive, sunflower, avocado, sweet almond etc and if using for acne or spot issues, use a 2% dilution i.e. 2 drops to every 100ml of carrier oil for the face; maybe a 5% dilution for the body. Same if using in a bath; never add neat essential oils to the bath as they may cause skin irritation - always dilute in a tablespoon of carrier oil and add to the bath when you've finished running it.

Try not to use oils from places like Amazon; you don't know how long it's been on their 'shelves' and you won't know if it is a 'true' essential oil. Sadly mainly oils are doctored and have unnecessary added chemicals. Buy from reputable companies such as Neals Yard, Tisserand etc.

For more information on essential oil 'do/don't's have a nosey on Tisserand pages, they offer a lot of information for free. 😊

I tried it on my fungal nail. It burnt all the skin around my toe. Took weeks to get better

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 06/06/2023 13:00

I caught ringworm from the cat and Tea Tree oil cleared it up. I use lavender for superficial burns, it really works.

Sugaris · 06/06/2023 13:17

Damnit why didn’t this appear before I spent ££ getting skin tags removed by a beautician?

still, I can see what it makes of my toenails. With any luck I’ll be able to wear sandals this summer.

ontheplayground · 06/06/2023 13:27

@colouroftherainbow I just dab it neat onto the spots several times a day, maybe massage it in a bit gently (no idea whether massaging makes a difference).

It can either make them smaller and eventually go away, or sometimes bring them to at least a partial head (if you know what I mean). Either way it really helps. It's much better than anything else I've tried.

crackofdoom · 06/06/2023 13:32

It's also good for removing/ preventing mould and mildew when mixed with white wine vinegar.

Cloudyrose · 06/06/2023 13:42

Tea tree kills demodex mites which cause Rosacea. A few drops in a little water, wipe over affected area with cotton wool pads. Once dry, moisturise as normal. Rosacea gone within the week. I'd tried everything.

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 06/06/2023 13:50

I love tea tree too. It's great to dab on a spot in the morning after a "dots for spots" overnight treatment, but I'll try it on my dh's toes now too!

AnnaMagnani · 06/06/2023 13:59

I put it on my fungal toe nail for 2 bloody years.

And then I finally realised I was wasting my time, took the tablets and it cleared up immediately.

Absolute waste of time.

polkadotdalmation · 06/06/2023 14:04

thank you xx

I have a lot of skin tag's around my neck from pregnancy, is there a safe tea tree cream I could just rub all over?

SacreBleugh · 06/06/2023 14:30

It's also great for stopping puppies from chewing furniture and so on. They hate the smell. I always have tea tree hand for all sorts of things!

Kittykelly123 · 06/06/2023 14:38

I saw a post a few days ago about cold sore treatments. I had horrible cold sores for years to the point the doctor wanted me to go on antiviral tablets full time. Now if I feel one coming I use tea tree oil and it works. It also helps to get rid of them really quickly if they come up. I think it is magic.

Really wouldn't advise this, it's toxic to dogs.

People’s fungal toenails will respond to different things. It’s not a one size fits all. Some people swear by Vicks or certain off-the-shelf products. Some of us will only respond to systemic prescribed treatment like the Terbinafine tablets. It’s down to the resistance of the fungus.

colouroftherainbow · 06/06/2023 15:14

Thank you @ontheplayground .
In the past, regular facial massage really helped my skin, the cystic spots cleared up for a while but then seem to have returned with a vengeance recently and no amount of massage (or antibiotics and retinol) are making any difference :(

I will give this a try

AngeloMysterioso · 06/06/2023 15:25

The smell does remind me a bit of the headlice outbreaks at school when I was a child, but I still like it!

I make a mixture of white vinegar, fairy liquid, a little water and a few drops of tea tree oil to clean my bathroom. It’s cheap, natural, non-toxic and leaves it sparkling and smelling lovely 🙂

You can also use it for post natal healing, especially if you’ve torn or had an episiotomy and had stitches. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil (or cypress) and a few drops of lavender oil in an egg cup with some organic whole milk and add to a hot shallow bath. Lovely and soothing, the tea tree oil is an astringent and causes the raw blood vessels to close over, and the lavender is healing, encourages the growth of new skin and protects the raw area from airborne infections.

Check first, many oils should not be used in pregnancy. As mentioned above, Tisserand gives a lot of information. They are also good oils.

If you buy the cheap stuff from £ shops, Home Bargains etc. you are taking a risk unless you know what is actually in them.

If you read my previous post you will understand.

MuddaUdders · 06/06/2023 15:31

Big fan of tea tree as well! Didn't know it could be used on skin tags though :D
I use it on problem areas of my scalp via adding a few drops to either my shampoo, or mixed in with a pre shampoo treatment (and left on the scalp for as long as poss before rinsing off and shampooing)

ontheplayground · 06/06/2023 15:32

@colouroftherainbow Cystic spots are the WORST. I really hope it works for you like it works for me 🤞. It's not a magic instant cure, but it's such a massive improvement.

PenanceAdair · 06/06/2023 15:36

I'm one of the people who posted about it on several occasions here (different usernames). I've told anyone I can irl who asks for solutions to things and they come back with results. I 'discovered' it years ago and it cures all.

Till today, it still amazes me as I just think 'tea tree oil!' when I come across another new skin/body problem and voila! It works.

I apply it directly. I always hated the smell but I've learned to just appreciate the miracle that it is. Holland and Barratt must be tired of me by now.

You're welcome, OP.😆
