So far after seeing it mentioned on here, it has removed my skin tags and has finally started to cure my toenail of the start of a fungal infection- I can't believe it!
It's so simple and everything else I had tried hadn't worked!

It was the only that helped my really bad acne scars. Just rub it in neat the £1.99 stuff is the same as the organic stuff. It's good for cuts and scratches and heals stuff well and reduces scarring. Arnica is also good for bruises and ginger for indigestion. I always have those three in my house.

Nothingisblackandwhite · 06/06/2023 10:40

I’ve been using it for years and every time I pass on my knowledge to someone else I get the same traction as yours . It really is brilliant

Helenahandkart · 06/06/2023 10:41

Be really careful using it neat. You can sensitise your skin to it and get really bad reactions.
I can’t go anywhere near it anymore after making that mistake.

nachotemple · 06/06/2023 10:41

yes definitely dilute in a carrier oil, especially on children!!

MargotBamborough · 06/06/2023 10:44

Loving all these uses!

Apparently nits absolutely hate tea tree oil so if your kids get them, add some to conditioner and massage it into the scalp after you've combed all the nits and eggs out.

wheelywheelynice · 06/06/2023 10:48

For those of us who don't like the smell of it, lemon myrtle is 30% more potent than tea tree and smells absolutely divine.

I love tea tree

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2023 11:00

We use boots alternatives tea treat cream, it's brilliant for things like cystic acne, manky things but not for open skin.

HippyChickMama · 06/06/2023 11:01

It also repels wasps, you can spray it inside sheds etc to prevent wasps nesting

spiderlight · 06/06/2023 11:03

I had a horrible little seborrhic keratosis (little blakc lump) on my chest for about 18 months. It eventually occurred to me to dab it with tea tree oil - did it a couple of times and then it just fell off in the shower!

Where do you all buy it? I’m going to get some but there’s so many choices I’m wondering if it’s a bit like Manuka - ie there’s a lot of fakes?

You need to be sure to buy pure essential oil, not blended. Label should tell you.

As for using it neat, it is not advisable to use any essential oil straight from the bottle as it can cause burns. It should be mixed with a carrier oil. Should always do a skin test before getting really stuck in with it.

If you disregard this and do it anyway, please do not go out in sunlight with it on.

I expect there are many people on the internet that will say otherwise, most of them have never qualified as aromatherapists or know what they are talking about. It takes time and money to learn and qualify, a beauty course is not enough to be safe.

While you are reading all the stuff about using it for everything, please also read about how to use it safely, look at some proper advice for using pure essential oils. Burning a skin tag off is one thing, and very tempting, but please be careful.

marmiteandminticecream · 06/06/2023 11:08

i wonder if it works on mila i have a few around my eyes and hate them

It's very strong smelling and I think near your eyes would not be good.

I used to have milia - a sterilised pin and a squeeze is how I got rid of them

Long time fan of tea tree, but please keep it well away from pets as it is very quickly toxic to them

FofB · 06/06/2023 11:25

We put Nelsons Tea Tree Cream on everything- cuts, bruises, bites- anything. My youngest is going on an outdoor residential and has reminded me to pack this.

It's advisable to use something formulated for your face rather than an essential oil diluted or otherwise, unless you have the proper training (and even then I don't know).

However there is a product called Dr Ceuracle Tea Tree Purifine 95 essence which is gentle and designed to be used on the face. It's not cheap (£20) but a little goes a long way. I've also had good results with the Body Shop Tea Tree Daily Solution serum. I preferred the Dr C one but couldn't get it during the lockdowns, and now I cba to switch back.

Benign oil like almond that you mix it with

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 06/06/2023 12:08

How funny, I was going to post something similar!

I've been using (superdrug's own) neat tea tree oil on three manky toenails since March. I've had them since I was about 13 (now 40!) and was always under the impression they were because of damage to the nail bed as I danced pointe at that age.

However, when my big toenail started going manky, I decided to give it a go. I didn't want Terbinifine from the doctor again as you can't take it long term (it did work btw, but then I had to have blood tests before I could have a second run and it came back).

Anyway - thanks if you're still with me Grin - I was cutting my toenails yesterday and realised that one of them, the top of the nail I could just pull off as underneath was healthy growth. So it works, but it takes time.

Downside is I'm obsessed with the smell.

Any oil. It doesn't have to be a massage oil, veg oil from the kitchen will do. Just your masseuse won't use that!

Everyone please read this, it's very potent and you can literally cause yourself chemical burns on skin. I used to add it my bath sometimes, then once I added a drop too much and it hurt. I had a rash for ages.
