Stolen parcel?

I recently splurged and spent £150 on hair care products. They got delivered when I was out and left on the steps outside. I came home and the parcel was gone.

The retailer has said they won’t do anything because Royal Mail have marked it as delivered to my requested safe place. I didn’t request a safe place though because all you can do on that website is select the type of delivery you want and nothing else.

What type of delivery did you select?

I think the vendor is trying to wiggle out of this one. Your contract is with them. They have a contract with Royal Mail. Follow up.

Yes it's the vendor you need to contact

Keep at it with the vendor. Are you sure you haven't ever selected a safe place with royal mail?

mainsfed · 05/06/2023 19:57

How do you know they were left on the steps, was there a pic?

Any chance it's with a neighbour?

FunkyMonks · 05/06/2023 20:01

Check your postie hasn't put it in a shed bin or somewhere in your garden if they are able to access that.
My postie is pretty good always leaves a card where they have put parcel if it doesn't require signature that is otherwise if it does it ends up going back to post office for me to collect.

That's bad that the company aren't helping you out £150 is a lot I'm also surprised they didn't haven signature to show as proof of delivery.

Shehavyygah · 05/06/2023 20:52

There’s a photo of it on the steps, neighbours said they haven’t taken it in on both sides and opposite.

I’ve attached a photo of the delivery options. RM text on the day but I never selected safe place.

The safe place thing is a bit of a default explanation. They say that even if it's left in full view.

Thewildling · 05/06/2023 21:06

The company have to deliver and ensure you receive your order here. They can claim from Royal Mail the cost back of your order. Explain to them you would like your order resending or you will be submitting a charge back through your bank

WiddlinDiddlin · 05/06/2023 21:11

I suspect they will say you should have chosen the special delivery, signed for, rather than the tracked 48 hours, where a signature is not automatically part of the deal (it can be requested by the sender I think).
