Mock GCSEs / going on holiday

We've been asked to meet some family in Thailand at Christmas for 2 weeks, which will be just before my son sits his mock GCSE's. Would it be unreasonable to not go for this reason or unreasonable to go?! I can't imagine him doing any work on a dream holiday like that. Would love to hear people's thoughts / experiences.

i would go.After mocks are done and dusted , it will be heads down on the final leg before the exams, no time to slack.. He will be burnt out working solidly from september to June!
Get him to set up a proper revision regime next (autumn) term , so he can take a couple of weeks off at xmas

During covid a lot of students who hadn't taken their mocks seriously were caught out when these ended up informing their final grades. But I think those events are unlikely to recur! I would expect serious revision in the autumn term and then enjoy the holiday.

You’ve got an entire six months’ notice - knowing he won’t revise during those two weeks he can organise himself to revise in Sept, Oct and Nov surely?
