To not understand Mumsnet policy on thread deletion

Why is it that a thread literally titled I hate Kids is allowed to run for days, yet a thread daring to question whether an elderly woman was rude is deleted quickly? Also there is currently a thread calling children vile names, such as Cretins and Crotch Droppings which has not been deleted. Will this be deleted as its in reference to other threads?

We’ll have to agree to differ @Hannahsbananas, unless MN clarifies which talk guidelines were broken.
I was on that thread last night - one delightful poster (scumbag) asked the OP why she was wasting her time posting when she didn’t have long left due to her illness. Debate is fine in AIBU, but vicious pile-ons are not.

Of course.

It's actually quite rare for MNHQ to announce that an OP is a troll. I wish they would admit it more often. Trolling is such a huge problem on the site.

The bus thread was ridiculous, the troll OP was so obviously in the wrong and ageist to boot. I did enjoy the frequent repetition of the word "swoop," though. 😀A few of the responses were awful, but for the most part people were perfectly reasonable.

I expect this thread will be deleted soon as a TAAT.

They need the traffic, so they keep controversial ones with a lot of posts up for far longer than they should. See also threads that are quite clearly bollocks but are generating a lot of visits to the site.

This ^^

why mumsnet exist

Prob outing and asked it to be deleted or fake which is more likely. But yes mumsnet do delete things that are totally fine. Crotch droppings?! That's a new one and tongue in cheek amusing but if said viciously obviously not but name calling is rife on here especially "narcissist" "gaslighted" "cunt" "bastard" etc etc so a crotch dropping is quite mild in comparison u would say and a new phrase in my friends only repertoire when describing a complete tosser.

it can be a mix of reasons for the threads
