To want a refund

I bought an iPad on Amazon it was a refurbished one I didn’t realise it was a 3rd party seller. Anyway the ipad just never worked properly it wouldn’t charge unless not being used and even if it was charging if you used it it would turn off. On the listing it said the item was eligible for a return (refund) for up to a year after buying it (I bought it in December and returned last month) the seller immediately accepted the return but once I sent it back the seller is now saying they will only replace the item (I have already bought another one brand new so obviously don’t need it replacing and the listing said it was eligible for a refund) now Amazon have opened a case but it’s been a week and they still haven’t decided whether I’m able to get my money back. What can I do here as it was a lot of money.

they legally have to

Contact amazon customer services and explain it all to them. They're usually pretty helpful.

If it was eligible for refund then it's eligible for refund. It might just take Amazon a few days to deal with it.

Having said that, I would also have waited rather than buying a brand new one.

Go back to Amazon.

Yeah in hindsight I should have waited but there is reasons why I didn’t which I won’t go fully into as I know people won’t understand but it was my daughters Xmas present and she was very upset took me ages to convince her to send it back, also the seller accepted the return and it stated refund when I sent it back either way I didn’t want a replacement so waiting wouldn’t have changed things as I didn’t want a replacement I actually bought 2 off the same seller for 2 children and they are both the same so wasn’t risking a replacement. Still waiting since I posted this and no refund

I still haven't been refunded on this and checking the email amazon said it can take up to a month? Does this sound right? So currently the seller has the ipad and my money. My washing machine has just broke and I can't afford to buy a new one till I get this refunded 🙄 has anyone been through this how can it take a month?
