Life can change

Came across an old diary today. First entry (first picture) written in march 2017. Extremely depressed, extremely hopeless, the smallest tasks were huge, addicted to alcohol, daughter living with her dad. Second entry written march 2022 and the difference is astounding.

Can't believe the change and how much I've grown since then.

Was suicidal in first entry and so glad I held on and this shows things can change.

Going to record tomorrow but for update I have just passed my first placement and this time next year I will have my masters. My daughter lives with me. Life is good.

Hope this provides some hope.

That's really wonderful. Well done for sticking through it and emerging triumphant!

I thought from your thread title that you were going to post that your life had become awful as a 'don't take things for granted' type thread

How absolutely amazing it was to read that actually,'it's the opposite. Your daughter sounds like a fabulous little girl.

You have done this OP and you deserve every bit of credit for it - i hope you come back in another few years to update!!

This is great news, congratulations, but there are so many identifying details in it. Are you sure you want all of this on mumsnet for all to see?

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 01/06/2023 22:29

Wow well done OP. That’s gorgeous ❤️ happy 30th and enjoy your life with your cheeky Amelia 🥲

You should be so so proud of yourself

JamSandle · 01/06/2023 22:54

So happy for you. And what a great message! Sometimes we just need to dig our heels in and hold on. The darkness of depression and suicidal thoughts can pass and life can get better again.

Thanks for sharing.

Jokingette · 01/06/2023 22:58

Thank you for posting this and for posting on my thread about my dd. You've given me hope to cling on to when I was rapidly losing it all. Well done on turning your life around. I hope life continues to be good and that you are very proud of yourself.
