London hotel help

Hi all, I’m looking for advice and recommendations on hotels in London to stay in during a trip in January next year. I’m bringing the kids (teens) to see Hamilton in the Victoria Palace Theatre and have no idea if it’s a good idea to stay close to the theatre or even what area the theatre is in. Any help would be much appreciated. I would like somewhere nice but not mega expensive

Hamilton is more or less opposite Victoria Station, there are lots of hotels in the area. There's plenty to see around the area and it's very handy to get to other places thanks to the Victoria line.

My parents came down a few years ago and got an online bargain break at a very luxurious hotel near Buckingham Palace (about 10 mins walk from Victoria), so it may be worth having a look to see if any offers are available. There's a Premier Inn near the station as well. There's also an Easyhotel if you're on a budget, but they're a bit hostelly.

Hamilton is a fantastic show, you'll have a great time!

It’s just outside Victoria station and the areas fine but there’s not tons to do as far as other attractions - restaurants and shops etc. It might be easier to do a search for Central London on booking.com and see what hotels are coming up then work out the travel to/from the theatre from there. For example a hotel around Covent Garden / The Strand might be fun for teenagers and you could easily get to Victoria by walking down to Embankment tube and getting on the District / circle line. That’s not immediately apparent if you don’t know the area well.

Ha ha. Sorry I immediately contradicted the PP. I guess there might be things to see in the area depending on what you’re into but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a city break. 😀

I would probably stay at a premier inn near Euston or King’s Cross. Easy to get the train (depending of course on where you are coming from) and Victoria line to see Hamilton. Also easy to commute to Covent Garden or Oxford St for some shopping.

I don’t love the area round Victoria much so wouldn’t stay there.

Great to book early though so well done!

Try premier inn or travel lodge, if it's an evening performance probably easier to ge relatively close. Try Pimlico for cheaper options

If you have not already bought the tickets it can be cheaper to get a hotel and show package.

There are quite a few hotels (Premier Inn, Citizen M) around the Tower Hill area that are a bit less expensive than near Victoria. It's the same tube line so no issues.
