NHS NIPT

Hi, I had my 12 week scan at 14 plus 1 last week and was called after saying I have tested high risk for Down syndrome at 1 in 141. I was offered the NIPT and did that on Tuesday.

I was wondering has anyone tested high risk and been ok? How long did it take for the NHS results to come back?

I am now 15 weeks, would a reassurance scan show anything that could be Down syndrome?

If you have been in this position what did you do extra to the NIPT if anything?

Can I rely on the NIPT being accurate.

Sorry for all the questions but I am feeling really anxious.

Baby is measuring full on date for period ovulation dates but I tracked ovulation so I know I ovulated and conceived exactly a week later than estimated ovulation. Also, we did not try that week so I know definitely conception was the week after. So, baby is growing a week ahead.

Hi, just thought I would share my experience. I have 4 children already, my eldest being 20! I am having a surprise pregnancy at 42 years old. We were given the NHS screening test which came back at 1:18 and NF was 2.99 mm.

I refused amnio due to risk of miscarriage and opted for NIPT instead Came back as high risk. I have researched and researched and researched and accepted baby will have DS. We are under care of fetal medicine and baby is doing fabulous. Currently 30 weeks. I experienced fear, anxiety, cried lots etc at first but have now accepted it and am actually excited. She is just a baby at the end of the day and will just be a different journey with this one. I am determined to make it work and for her to have a full and happy life xxx
