My DH bought himself 2 cases of beer...

My DH has been out all day on his man's secret MN hobby (you will never guess). He walked in after being out for 6 hours, obviously having come home via the shops, carrying 2 cases of beer for himself.
I said excitedly 'oooh! What did you get for me?'

Silence.

He's just sheepishly told me that he will make dinner this evening.
😆

What a selfish wanker. I'd of made him go back out for a bottle of wine.

CheshireCat1 · 29/05/2023 18:44

Where's the Guinness?

GoodChat · 29/05/2023 18:45

What beer is it OP?

Tanith · 29/05/2023 18:48

Bramblesflock · 29/05/2023 18:35

I bet cycling. I don't even like beer and now I fancy one!

She said not cycling.

I bet he's a Quidditch Snitch Grin

TeaYarn · 29/05/2023 18:49

What’s he done wrong?

ODFOx · 29/05/2023 18:49

One of these days an errant husband will walk in with a dozen cans of Pimms and lemonade, a bag of ice and a cucumber and all will be right with the world.
In the interim, if it isn't Old Speckled Hen LTB 😀

RJnomore1 · 29/05/2023 18:56

Ohhhh my husband did that once.

Once.

(and yes I do get him something every time I go to the shop too 🙄)

Maireas · 29/05/2023 18:56

LTB

WithIcePlease · 29/05/2023 18:58

I find this very odd
Had his phone died?
DH wouldn't go toa supermarket or basically anything other than petrol station without asking if I needed anything

Nothatwasntmehonest · 29/05/2023 18:59

Cheers!
The sun is shining and it's a bank holiday 😁

I bet it's running.
Or he's a railway enthusiast.

TempyBrennan · 29/05/2023 19:01

I’m impressed at how such a lighthearted thread can STILL incite a bit of passive aggressiveness from the mumsnet brethren. Amazing.

also, LTB. Ducks in a row. Hide the assets etc etc 😂

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 29/05/2023 19:03

Yes I think the best answer is to enjoy some of the beers, unless you really didn’t like them (and I can see you’re not seriously averse!)

But grabbing some pink champagne tomorrow also sounds good (or pink Prosecco/ cava depending on funds) - you’d better get two as you’ll have to share it with him now!

TeaParty4Me · 29/05/2023 19:06

I’m struggling to understand what the issue is.

Do you not like the hobby he does?

Or do you think he should have bought you something from the shop?

Will he be going to your thing tomorrow and if not will you be bringing him home some coffee or cake when you have some?

millymoo1202 · 29/05/2023 19:06

As long as it’s not tinky tennetts! 🤣

OnlyFannys · 29/05/2023 19:08

I love all of the passive aggressive faux ignorance posts 😂 yes so hard to grasp that it's a teeny bit selfish for a married person to come hole with loads of booze and not to have even considered buying something in for there partner that they will be sipping it in front of. Glad you are making the most of the beers op

Billyho · 29/05/2023 19:11

justplantedbulbs · 29/05/2023 18:10

Noooo!! Peroni or asahi 🍻

To be honest…..

any of those!

I’m an easy night out 😂

Mumof4alsoabonus · 29/05/2023 19:14

Jeez the heat must be getting to people today lol. I don’t like beer, so I would be like where’s the cider? The same would happen the other way round, though he would drink the beer and the cider.
Hobby- golf? Those re-enactment things? Beer drinking? Football?

spir1t · 29/05/2023 18:26

What is the point if this thread???

If you think it's pointless why bother posting?

Xtraincome · 29/05/2023 19:18

Don't like beer. But all this Asahi talk makes me want to try it.

OP, enjoy your beer which seems to be inciting rage from people for an unknown reason.

🍺 🍻

mandlerparr · 29/05/2023 19:24

I don't know why there is so much bitterness in the tea today. The OP made a lighthearted post.
But, let's all agree that if you come home with a consumable item like drinks or food and you don't bring your partner/family any without at least checking if they want something-it sort of shows what kind of person you are and it is not a nice one. And don't bring up grocery shopping, that implies there are items for everyone. Especially in this day and age where I am pretty sure that some pets even have their own cell phone. It is not that hard to text/call and say, "I am grabbing some beers, do you want some or do you want something else?" Or to just buy something you know they like.

PyjamaFan · 29/05/2023 18:08

Thank you all for your kind words.

(Not cycling) 😁

Is it extreme crochet? Enjoy his beer.

BreviloquentBastard · 29/05/2023 19:29

Oh I love a good mystery hobby, give us a clue OP. Does he fly miniature aeroplanes? Quad biking? Trainspotting?

Enjoy your beer 😁
