How do I leave him?

AlphaB3tty · 28/05/2023 19:02

I don't want to be married to hubby anymore. How do I go about leaving him? I don't have any money and no where to go.
He is so needy and I can't cope anymore.

Do you own property with him?
Do you have children?
Are you employed?
Do you have family?

I think all of these things would make a difference to the How.

To get to this point, I'm assuming he is a lot more than needy.

When you say nowhere to go, what about friends and family, even if you have fell out with them? Anyone you can think who can help you?

Royalbloo · 28/05/2023 19:27

No kids which is the biggest killer for me.
I work full time. My brother could help me.

I work. I earn. I pay everything.
He doesn't work. He doesn't earn. He gets benefits cos of long term extreme health issues.
His health got worse after we married. I can't cope anymore.

Not having children is (in terms of leaving) a bonus really.

How to leave him - pack your bags, go to your brother or a friend if you can then take a breath and work out what to do next.

If you have joint finances you set up new accounts just for you - current account, savings, credit card.
Set up a new email address for all these accounts.
Email copies of all bills, bank accounts, savings, pensions, etc to your new email account. 1 year of details.
Close or have your name taken off all joint accounts.

You have a job so have your full pay put into your new current account.

Have you a trusted friend or family member? Could you stay with them for a few weeks? Store processions there?
If not consider hiring a small storage unit.
Say you're having a major clear our and take as much as possible out of the house in advance.
Consult a solicitor
Leave.

Can't you ask him to leave?

AlphaB3tty · 28/05/2023 21:47

Storage idea is good.
