To be upset by this..

I work in a cafe for a large stately home.
A lot of the staff including myself started around the same time. Our front of house manger left, so the catering manager (who's above everyone) made 4 people "team leader"
There is pretty much only me and one other person he didn't ask to be one of these team leaders.
I do only work 2 days a week due to childcare but one of the ladies he asked doesn't do much more than that. They are not getting paid any extra for doing it "yet" and have to attend regular early meetings.
AIBU to be upset or should I just let it go over my head?

They’ve got more responsibility with no more pay? I’d be happy you’re not doing it!

There's a likelihood they won't be paid extra and they'll have more responsibility and meetings . They'll quite likely be hacked off by the extra workload . (While the Manager 'delegates' )

Pin your your Dodged A Bullet badge I think ..

I'd be more upset if I were expected to attend early meetings and have more responsibility for no extra money, personally.

You would be crazy to want to be one of the team leaders.
Give it a couple of months and notice how they are all squabbling because they all want to be the one implementing change & calling the shots.
Crazy complaining customer ‘I’ll just get my team leader for you’. Staff illness and short staff it will be the team leader expected to step up.

Enjoy being a minion and having less hassle and stress.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet to me. More responsibilities on the same pay is a mugs game.

Partytastic · 26/05/2023 18:47

You’ve definitely dodged a bullet.

Floralys2 · 26/05/2023 18:48

They've been given more responsibility but not rewarded financially?

If I was you, I'd be over the moon that I hadn't been stitched up too

EyUpThereLass · 26/05/2023 19:05

Thanks everyone.. I never thought about it that way. I just kept thinking I must not be good enough to have even been asked.. but that is a good point!

If there are four team leaders and two of you not, who are they leading?

LampsAndWatches · 26/05/2023 19:42

Think of all the added stress on the days you aren’t working but worrying about cover and complaints.

breaking your neck arranging childcare to wrap around the early morning meetings

for no extra money? No thanks!
