How is this even allowed (no toilets)

A charity have a sporting session every week in a park but there are no toilets?
How's that even allowed ?
Anyone else think it's awful?
I've heard people say go behind a Bush, that's not nice or practical.

Shouldn't have too anyway, they should find a venue, where they have toilets and changing facilities?
Would you attend?

You can do exercise without someone providing a toilet. See walking, cycling, running, climbing, wild swimming or any of a million outdoor activities.

You go before you leave home.

If that doesn't suit your personal circumstances or preference, leisure centres are available.

HateMyselfToo · 25/05/2023 23:20

Vote with your feet. Don't go. Find a class that has the facilities you want. Expect to pay more.

Soapboxqueen · 25/05/2023 23:21

girlfriend44 · 25/05/2023 23:17

There are no nearby public toilets.

Then don't go.

I wouldn't be able to attend so I wouldn't go.

It's unlikely that the organisers will change location for one person complaining so why waste your energy.

Exactly my point, the activity should be held at the leisure centre.

Are toilets a compulsory thing in law?
i just pee in a bush when I’m out walking my dogs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gingergirl70 · 25/05/2023 23:22

@girlfriend44 to put it into context, why don't you tell us what the activity is and how long it lasts? How much do you pay per session? Who runs it?
And why do you still attend if it's making you so damned miserable and anxious about?

SparklyBlackKitten · 25/05/2023 23:22

You are being rediculous

Just dont go

Problem solved

UsingChangeofName · 25/05/2023 23:22

YABU.

You choose whether to attend, depending on your circumstances.
I've been following local football at grass roots level for decades. Very few places I go to have toilets. You don't drink much before you go, and, if it is an away game / far to travel, you stop off somewhere nearby to use the toilet, the same as you do when you go out to a park or beach for the day. If you can't last 2 hours without the toilet, then you choose to watch, or take part in an event that is in a leisure centre, or in a park close to a shopping centre or whatever, but most people probably can manage.

Gingergirl70 · 25/05/2023 23:23

So why don't you attend the leisure centre-based activities instead?

redbigbananafeet · 25/05/2023 23:23

If you feel unwell and unable not to go to the toilet for an hour then you shouldn't be at a sporting event.

GulesMeansRed · 25/05/2023 23:24

Exactly my point, the activity should be held at the leisure centre

You step up and offer to take over the running of the whole event if you think you can do better then? 🙄

There should be more public toilets so Yanbu. I quite often see men peeing in the street, well in a corner by some trees at least. Sometimes they pee in the bushes over the road from my flat. It’s gross in this century really. Not everyone can hold on for 2 or 3 hours and why should they anyway.

TrashyPanda · 25/05/2023 23:25

girlfriend44 · 25/05/2023 23:11

Of course, but you still.might need to go while your there or before you leave to come home.

You might even need the toilet because you feel unwell.

These things can happen when you are on a long distance bus, stuck in a traffic jam on a motorway, half way round the golf course, out hill walking etc. it’s perfectly normal to not have a loo 5 metres away.

you cope.

if you need to go to the loo all the time, barr8ng any medical issues, you are probably drinking too much.

RoseslnTheHospital · 25/05/2023 23:25

@UsingChangeofName whoops, sorry, didn't mean to quote your post!

CosmicVaginaBiscuit · 25/05/2023 23:25

Our parkrun closed the toilet access 'due to covid' and never reopened the clubhouse.
A lot of venues don't have toilets which is a shame as it's a barrier to exercise and I think disproportionately affects women as it's harder to pee outside, and periods are an added bonus.

I have IBS and toilet anxiety and miss out on many activities because of this. I no longer volunteer at parkrun because that puts me in a position where I can't just leave and go home if I'm desperate for the loo, and that feeds the anxiety.

Can you find out if there are tolilets anywhere near your activity and plan a stop off there if necessary. I appreciate that it's not free but I suppose it comes down to whether it's financially viable from the charity's perspective, even if they can't be wholly inclusive.

There are a few unkind and sarcastic replies here, not everyone is lucky enough to be confident of their continence. I would say OP that for a children's activity the lack of toilets would be worse.

redbigbananafeet · 25/05/2023 23:25

OP are you never ever anywhere for an hour without access to a toilet? You've never been for a cycle or hillwalking?

BrieAndChilli · 25/05/2023 23:27

I help with scouts - last week we did a 2 hour hike. Not toilets and no-one pooed thier pants!

we also take beavers (age 6-8) on outdoor acitivites such as hour long walks - they manage, they owe behind a tree if necessary

I’ve done bootcamp fitness classes in the park which are a paid activity. I don’t think I should insist they provide a toilet. Of a toilet was important to me I would pay more money to attend one at a leisure centre. I think you are unreasonable for saying they need to change nor you. You can choose an activity that does provide a toilet. No-one is stopping you!

OutDamnedSpot · 25/05/2023 23:29

FFS OP, just tell us what it is and how long it’s for. No one can answer your question properly without knowing the full context.

FurAndFeathers · 25/05/2023 23:30

girlfriend44 · 25/05/2023 23:21

Exactly my point, the activity should be held at the leisure centre.

I expect it is in some places. But lots of us enjoy exercising outdoors. Choice is a great thing. If that doesn’t suit you look for alternatives.

I’m actually a bit flummoxed as to why this is so hard for you

Guiltridden12345 · 25/05/2023 23:30

I think this is one where the logical answer is ‘if you don’t like it, don’t go’? It’s a charity. They are maximising funds. Surely you can understand this?

Dotcheck · 25/05/2023 23:31

For heaven’s sake OP

How long is the event for!!!!??????

TrashyPanda · 25/05/2023 23:32

PuttingDownRoots · 25/05/2023 23:12

I advise not taking up hiking.
Or canoeing.

Or hot air balloning
Or hang gliding
Or bird watching

HeddaGarbled · 25/05/2023 23:33

I don’t believe you. If it’s a town big enough for a leisure centre, there’ll be toilets, public or supermarket, or both.

ThinWomansBrain · 25/05/2023 23:35

so join a gym, pay £150 a month and exercise with toilets provided.

the charity is either doing it as a fundraiser, or charging to cover costs.
