How is this even allowed (no toilets)

A charity have a sporting session every week in a park but there are no toilets?
How's that even allowed ?
Anyone else think it's awful?
I've heard people say go behind a Bush, that's not nice or practical.

Shouldn't have too anyway, they should find a venue, where they have toilets and changing facilities?
Would you attend?

Oh god just say what the sport is. It’s so tiresome, all this subterfuge 🙄

If there are plenty bushy bushes without nettles I wouldn't mind. If it's an exercise thing people are more relaxed about outdoor peeing. If it's a car boot then no!

How do you go for a shit comfortably in bushes, what about needing hot water to wash your hands. What about toilet paper.
Health and safety comes into play here surely?

TrashyPanda · 25/05/2023 23:08

we all need to go to the toilet

so go before you leave the house.

it’s a good habit to get into.

FurAndFeathers · 25/05/2023 23:08

i can generally go for an hour without shitting (and I say that as someone with significant malabsorption problems who is under the care of a gastroenterologist)

if you can’t, you probably need medical support

What do you think hill walkers do?

You pay, its a sport for adults, it shouldn't make any difference adults or children, we all need to go to the toilet.

How often do you need to go to the toilet?

I beg to differ on your point that it doesn't matter if it's for children or adults but hey, let's agree to disagree seen as you don't seem like someone I could have a reasonable conversation with on the matter.
My advice would be to stop attending. Problem solved

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/05/2023 23:10

There's a lot of context missing here.

Our Parkrun is right by a sports centre so there are toilets there, but on occasion it's closed (Christmas day as example) so then attendees make a decision about attending or not depending on their own personal needs. It's not compulsory.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 25/05/2023 23:11

It’s disc golf. It has to be disc golf.

Of course, but you still.might need to go while your there or before you leave to come home.

You might even need the toilet because you feel unwell.

How long can the sessions be, that having to have a shit in the bushes would even be a thing?
The participants have the option of leaving the park to find a public loo, or driving home if the need arises.
If an entire school full of kids can get through sports day on a field without mass shitting, so can a full grown adult.

PuttingDownRoots · 25/05/2023 23:12

I advise not taking up hiking.
Or canoeing.

Park run is free, this is not free.

@girlfriend44 what would you do if you were in the park for a picnic, and you needed the loo? Why would it be any different if you were doing an activity instead of having your own private picnic?

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/05/2023 23:15

@girlfriend44 Same playing fields are used for myriad sports, many payable, often after sports centre hours. Same deal applies.

WhereTheSuburbsMeetUttoxeter · 25/05/2023 23:15

Start with a Tenna lady and then see how you go from there. Maybe upgrade to bucket by the car, with bog roll if unwell.

Hannahsbananas · 25/05/2023 23:15

girlfriend44 · 25/05/2023 23:14

Park run is free, this is not free.

There is literally no relevance to this 😂
Do you manage to hold it in when you’re not paying?

Soapboxqueen · 25/05/2023 23:15

Not all events have easily accessible toilets. 🤷🏻

I do think it's reasonable for anyone organising an event to state toilets available/not available/nearest ones x distance away etc or similar.

I personally wouldn't be able to attend an event that didn't have facilties.

If you feel unwell then don’t attend or go home.

reduce the risk of needing the loo by going before you attend.

it’s honestly not that difficult, you just hold on
use Tena or similar if you have some continence issues
how did you cope with PE as a kid?

People attend lots of activities in.parks that either don't have loos or they have been closed. For example, boot camps, yoga, Thai chi. I see many a field being used to play football without loos. Local beaches have similar sessions and the likes of volleyball etc.
If attending an activity with a charity does not suit your particular needs, find another activity or a similar one that provides the facilities you require.

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/05/2023 23:17

We're off kayaking soon. 90 minute trip. Paid for. I'll enquire about the toilet facilities off the back of this thread 🙄

Nomorecoconutboosts · 25/05/2023 23:17

@girlfriend44
I’m sensing you have anxiety around toilet access? And the thread isn’t going how you had hoped.

or if not that, you want to complain about the activity or the organisers?
Or you just don’t want to go but ‘need an excuse’

There are no nearby public toilets.
