How is this even allowed (no toilets)

A charity have a sporting session every week in a park but there are no toilets?
How's that even allowed ?
Anyone else think it's awful?
I've heard people say go behind a Bush, that's not nice or practical.

Shouldn't have too anyway, they should find a venue, where they have toilets and changing facilities?
Would you attend?

That's seems odd, and quite risky given what yoga does for your digestive system and pelvic floor from time to time, you definitely need a toilet handy just in case. I pay for yoga in a village hall, a studio in someone's home, someone's garden, a barn - all have toilets.

But your expectations would be different in a park compared to an indoor facility.

Nope. I would only expect there might not be toilets if it was say, a wild beauty spot, but I would expect the instructor to specifically say when you booked the class that no toilets were available as the default with any sporting/physical event is that toilets are available.

If this is Parkrun say then most events will have access to toilets and say so when they don't. Lots of people need a wee just before they run - I've seen queues for men's portaloos at races which are pretty long.

For someone to have a bit of fucking thought for five minutes about where they hold it. Somewhere with not toilets - nope. Somewhere with toilets - yes.

What if the choices are here, nowhere or somewhere unaffordable?

RampantIvy · 26/05/2023 14:11

I live rurally, and our fields where the park run takes place don't have loos but everyone knows this as they are local. I would expect toilets at any large public event though, but not small local ones like the summer fair at the local rec.

Catspyjamas17 · 26/05/2023 14:11

We don't know that those were the choices or if like many people on this thread, the organiser thinks peeing in a toilet is a luxury not a necessity.

Catspyjamas17 · 26/05/2023 14:13

I would certainly expect a summer fair on a local rec to have toilet facilities. I've organised summer fetes and there are always toilets.

RampantIvy · 26/05/2023 14:13

I think the OP is enjoying the arguments on here and that is why they are refusing to say what type of event it is.

Context is everything.

But they could be the choices so what if they are. The OP isn't giving anyone enough information to make a proper judgement.

Yes, let's not be the best in the world, let's make the UK as shit as everywhere else.

Well done on really, really missing the point. That took some doing.

You can perhaps accept though, that sometimes things happen in locations where there are no toilet facilities or hiring them is impractical, surely?

For example, in a part near to me there is a yoga class during the summer. There are no toilets there. What would you have people do in that instance? Just not hold the class?

It's not so much about toilets being "everywhere* MwahHaHa as that this is an organised, charged-for event - and to my mind, if you're putting on something like that, there's a reasonable expectation that facilities will be in place

For example OP mentioned there was a leisure centre nearby, so why not have liaised with them?

When you say organised, charged-for event, what does that look like in your head. Because a charity holding "a sporting session every week in a park^ sounds like 30 people doing Zumba to me. But I think other people are seeing it as several hundred people doing something like parkrun.

In this case it would have been helpful for the OP to have been clear what the event was but she wants to be secretive.

Stompythedinosaur · 26/05/2023 15:31

I assume the cost would be much higher if they hired a fully equipped venue.

As long as it is clear what the facilities will be, I don't think it is unreasonable.

girlfriend44 · 26/05/2023 16:05

Women in Sport have done research and ot showed that no toilets was a barrier for women playing sport.

On the one hand, we are trying to get people active, on the other hand not providing a toilet.

You can't argue with proven research that's what Women in Sport are saying it's a barrier. Amen.

OP posts:
Muminthebluecoat · 26/05/2023 16:27

Why is this even an issue. If the event isn't suitable for your needs - don't go.

MayBeeJuneSoon · 26/05/2023 16:41

A barrier? Overcome it then? Grow up a bit

Amen 🤣

Yeah women! A man in your sport? Just run faster and be stronger than the men, what the fuck is wrong with you anyway?

Grow up and get some testosterone.

ffs. There's always one (thousand)

MwahHaHa · 26/05/2023 17:08

Actually wrong thread, but still kinda fits the notion. I'll stick with it!

Jewelanemone · 26/05/2023 17:23

A lot of people on here have forgotten that being fit and healthy is a privilege, and not a right. If your bladder/bowels don't allow you to be more than 10 feet from a toilet at any given time it's very unfortunate for you but it's also nobody's fault, and the whines of 'But what about meeeee?!' achieve nothing. As a PP said, find something to do that's near a toilet.

Already explained not parkrun and its not necessary to say what sport it is, as its irrelevant. Does it make a difference to going to the toilet whether it's tennis, cricket or football. 🙄

Our local tennis venue doesn’t have toilets. People pay and attend. I think sometimes if the nearby bowling club is open they can use those but it’s not always open. (Crown green bowls members only club). It’s at our local park. If you need the toilet at that specific park then you go home. Not all parks have toilets.

interestingly I take my kids out walking/hiking often for a full day with picnic and we never come across toilets in the places we visit. Maybe at the car park at the start of the walk but not always. One of our local beaches has no toilets and it’s quite popular and near a tiny village that doesn’t have toilets.
