Fly on bed

There was a big black fly on my bed, in the covers, obviously I've stripped the bedding to wash it and apparently I'm over reacting, am I?

Lol

So yes you have overreacted but that's fine. Clean sheets tonight for your punishment! If you are going to overreact, don't berate yourself. It's not rational for me to get out of bed to check the oven but my rational side can STFU.

Thankyou xx

if it made you happy it's fine. No one wants flies willies on their sheets

Especially with a 4 year old co sleeper!

I couldn't get worked up about this. Sorry you're struggling, though, hope therapy is helping.

How many times do you think a fly has been on your bed without you even knowing about it?

I was just about to type this 😂

YouProbablyWontLikeTheAnswer · 25/05/2023 16:25

Massively over-reacting.

sanityisamyth · 25/05/2023 16:27

Seriously?!

Hoppinggreen · 25/05/2023 16:28

You did over react but nobody got hurt so it’s ok

saraclara · 25/05/2023 16:32

My friend has this kind of OCD. It absolutely sucks, and I'm sorry that your mind puts you through this.

Plead don't berate yourself for it. You seem to be doing all you can regarding therapy and meds. But maybe check in with your doctor if you haven't recently, because maybe they need tweaking?

I changed my bedding once a fortnight last week there was a dead daddy long legs on it dont know where he came from or how long we have been sharing the bed a moth last night got smashed with a book i changed my bedding to day all so I found crumbs thats probably why yes i`m disgusting .

dudsville · 25/05/2023 21:32

OP, I see that you're working on things and want perspective. I do not have ocd or suffer anxiety. I change my bedding every Friday. Without fail. Never a Saturday. And although i may want to in a Thursday, i do not. Friday is new bedding day. I do this because its a little routine that makes me happy. It's a small thing that makes my weekend special. So it's OK, i don't have to work on it. If i thought others would be at risk of harm coming to them if i didn't keep my routine, or if I felt my self worth was somehow tied up in this then that would be different, it would zap the joy, fuel the angst, so in that case i would need to work on it. If you see what i mean, it isn't so much the task as the meaning you make of it that decides whether it's ok or not. People get up to all kinds of weird and wonderful things.

drstranger · 25/05/2023 22:01

I have ocd too op, medicated and have therapy, it's a brutal thing to live with. No you're not overreacting, your brain is telling you you need to do this, you can't help the anxiety.
Talk it over more with your therapist next time you have a session.

Bewilderedandhurt · 25/05/2023 22:30

I'd imagine having sex in the bed might be more messy than a small flies dirty feet on your sheets.
I think you're over reacting.

Longtimelurkerfinallyposts · 25/05/2023 22:31

I'm wondering if maybe it's worth getting a mosquito net type thing to hang above your bed?
So that you can be confident that no flies (or other bugs) ever land on it again, especially when you're in it?

Do people not change bedding after sex?!
( am happily single but never did I ever have sex and not change bedding 🤢)
