It’s because it’s being phased out so now so claim universal credit instead if new claim. However existing claimants could stay on legacy benefits

All tax credits claims will be on uc by 2024 or should be anyway. Nobody new can claim it.

Yes exactly, it's because no one new can claim tax credits. Universal credits is the catch all benefit now.

As above you can only update your current tax credit claim (Ie add working tax on to a current child tax claim). No new applications. You have to apply for UC in this instance

Ah!!! Makes sense now. Thought I was going mad!!

I'm actually looking into benefits for a friend who's recently separated from her H. I'm fortunate enough to never have claimed myself so not up to date with it all - thanks
