29th June.
I suppose I should be grateful it's 2023 and not 2024.
Booked via the app thank goodness rather than three hours of phone misery.

@AlwaysAuntie Is your COPD monitored by a consultant at your local hospital?

Ummm what? It was diagnosed in hospital but thats it. Should I be asking my GP for a referral...and to who? Feel free to pm me if you'd rather, I do feel rather alone and uninformed with this and Google can be a bit frightening at times.

When we had to ring up for an appointment it made me rather down. I think it took me three days once to get an appointment. The 'please ring back after lunch', and then 'please ring back tomorrow' is really stressful when you're not well.
Thank goodness for the NHS app to be honest as I'd just not go if I had to ring up, @highlandspooce so I know what you mean.

I feel the frustration OP. I once had them actually answer the phone only to tell me that they weren't taking an phone calls that day and to ring back tomorrow Confused

I think some people go in person on the day to get an appointment as they open but not everyone has that time!

CandyLips · 26/05/2023 09:12

That's the usual with our GP - 3/4 weeks unless you call at 8.30 am for urgent.

openstop · 26/05/2023 09:13

For a non urgent medical review that is perfectly acceptable.

mumda · 26/05/2023 09:47

Interestingly today there's a single June 13th appointment and then 11th July onwards.

I'm not booking appointments - just looking.
And the joy of the system is cancelling and rebooking is so easy.

@openstop only if you realise in advance that you need to book so far in advance.

50 days away is huge.

When you're on a deadline for a review because they won't issue prescription without then you're stuffed. Which is what happened after my first script. I'd foolishly assumed it was on a repeat and that I wouldn't have to make an appointment to get a second months worth. After all HRT isn't a single course lasting one month.

My knee on the other hand might need to go to the doctors sooner. I'm currently following NHS advice: rest and ice. At the point I want to chop it off I'll have to see how it goes asking for a same day appointment.

But if you call or go in at 8am you can get an on the day appt right?

TallulahBetty · 26/05/2023 10:04

Same here. Either queue at 8am for an 'urgent' same day, or wait 6 weeks. No in-between.

I think our GP have banned people turning up at 8am on the day to snag an appointment.
And the phones are a joke. Ringing is not an option.

We can't book appointments in person. It's phone or nothing.

Not here. Its ridiculous 😡

I was on hold for 45 mins last week, appts all gone when I go through.
DH called again the next day - only 37mins that day (no appts, left though)
The day after, back to 45 mins but no appts.

I then called in on the pretext I needed to query blood test results. Managed to get a Sunday appt in another surgery but had to wait 5 weeks for that. I'll no doubt be better by then...

My sister has just got a hospital appt through for July 2024 so I suppose I shouldn't moan 🙄

CandyLips · 26/05/2023 20:54

My practice has recently banned people coming in at opening time to ask for appointments - all has to be online or by phone.

Baldieheid · 26/05/2023 21:06

Persistant cough here and after it didn't clear in 4 weeks, I rang Dr.

Phoned for appt in mid April, first telephone consult offered is June 1st.

6 weeks for a phone call.

Still waiting.....
