Neighbours kids

Aibu to absolutely be losing my mind at the amount of noise the neighbours kids make?!

I live in an apartment. Of course it’s not going g to be silent. I can hear their dog barking/crying, kids crying, screaming. I don’t mind any of this particularly and know it’s part of apartment living.

but it’s the constant banging and thudding. It shakes our apartment and could be heard/felt in every room. They obviously have hard floors and haven’t put rugs down. I am going mad. They are clearly playing ball games, slamming balls against our bedroom walls.

I have asked them to keep noise down but nothing has changed.

Myself and DP work long hours. We just want some peace. They started at it this morning at 8am, just as I got in the bath to relax. I just think it is soo inconsiderate on a Sunday morning.

unfortunately, we’re tied into a contract for 18 months.

YANBU and it annoys me when people say this is normal/acceptable living noise. Bouncing balls on someone’s ceiling, running, banging about shouting etc is so obnoxious and makes people’s life a living hell to live below (speaking from experience) Sorry your going through this OP, I had to move in the end.

NewPinkJacket · 21/05/2023 15:34

YANBU but I think to a certain extent you're right, it's jut part of living in a block of flats.

They need carpets or rugs though.

No break clause - signed a longer lease because that’s the only way to secure a rental these days (it was horrific trying to find something, the competition is crazy).

I get its part of apartment living, as I said, I don’t mind the screaming, crying etc. I can wear earplugs or headphones.

it’s the thudding. It’s almost pushing me to the point of tears!

It’s not apart of apartment living, there are inconsiderate assholes that should control their children and rugs make no difference they need underlay and carpet.
I know your pain I dealt with this before

LadyRos · 21/05/2023 15:44

If the kids were quiet until 8 this morning I think that’s quite good going in my experience. Unfortunately noisy neighbours are part and parcel of living in an apartment. Maybe send a polite note asking them to close doors etc quietly. They might not realise how noisy it is.
