Can I only get a passport application form from the post office?

I have a fast track passport appointment for my son's first passport booked on Monday. Went to get an application from my local post office and they said they weren't allowed to stock them and I had to go to a specific post office which was closed. Can't pick up the application tomorrow. No problem doing it on Monday morning but will struggle to find someone to do a countersignature. Surely you must be able to download a passport application or get one from somewhere other than the post office? We are travelling last minute otherwise would have done it sooner. Didn't have travel on the cards.

You used to be able to download but they don't offer that anymore. You will have to get to the post office first thing Monday.

Argh how annoying. Would be fine if it didn't need a countersignature. Bit daft in 2023 that you can't download one like you used to!

Hope you get it sorted. Don't forget you need a counter signature on the photo too.

I think you can do it online and get someone to countersign online too. I’m sure there was a thread here where someone was waiting weeks for their frien to countersign online.

Ignore that comment, it’s probably different rules if you have an actual appointment or it’s a first passport.

Good luck with it all.

Do you live anywhere near a convenience store that has an integral post office counter? They are usually open whenever the shop is open.

The post office website has a branch finder that might be helpful.

It's not different for a first passport; you still have to wait for the person you put as the countersignatory to log in and verify, so if it takes them weeks - you'd be waiting weeks. There are reminder texts, but they are once a week, I believe.

It might be different for a fast track in-person appointment, though.

Could you phone some other Post Offices to see if they have any? There must be some other post offices further afield?

They don't have them, it's just the main post offices which aren't open on a Sunday sadly.

If this is the case he will do it as he is going to be travelling with us!
