I've washed trainers before but always get nervous, my daughters black converse high tops are filthy, walking through muddy woods filthy.

Would you throw them in the washing machine?

Just put them inside a pillowcase and then wash them. They’ll be fine

Absolutely! I have done, and they come out absolutely fine. My white ones definitely needed some time on the washing line afterwards though, for a bit of sun bleaching.

Right, I'm on it.
I don't know why washing trainers is so panic inducing 😅
It's one of those things that Google always says don't do

You're right, we're always told not to do it! But I do it anyway and it's fine Grin
Good luck and let us know how you get on! I live in Converse and would be screwed if they couldn't go through the machine.

I just bung mine in on a short 30 wash. I've washing machine washed every pair of connies I've ever owned (some several times) and it doesn't damage them, though it may fade the canvas depending on your washing detergent.
