I used to use ebay lots and it was great, felt good to buy second hand rather than new and sell on my stuff rather than put in landfill. I’ve started using it again recently and the prices people are asking for their second hand used clothes has rocketed! Are there any better sites where people aren’t taking the piss? I have bought a couple of things and they’ve arrived in a state too, damaged, dirty, tissues in the pockets etc. EBay has really gone downhill.

Your point remains the same on how little a seller ends up with, but as well as the fee percentage there is a 30p fixed charge.

For a basic private seller depending on their ‘seller level’ fees could be 94p to £1.14
With £3 they are then left with £1.05 or a newer seller that’s still ‘below standard’ ends up with 85p

It’s easy for sellers to get caught out by guessing fess by adding x% rather than reverse engineering the percentage from the overall total. Eg 10% of £1 is £1.10, but 10% taken off that leaves 99p not £1 and the 30p can easily be gotten, so you end up with 69p instead of the expected £1
