New British passport question - weird white patch on photo?

Just a quick question. I've just received my new British passport and on the page opposite the details page (where it shows your date of birth /date of issue etc) the photo has a sort of white patch by the photo and extending onto the photo (so parts of the photo look paler but are still there). It looks like it is part of the design but it's not a uniform shape. Is this part of the design or have they messed up my passport?

No, my kids' new passports both have this blob too so don't think it's a mess-up.

Do you mean the photograph under the signature line? If so there is a white non uniform shape behind the photograph but doesn’t appear to affect the actual photograph, which seems quite dark. I wouldn’t worry though as the info and recognition strip are all on the other page.

There's various white blobs on all of the non-stamping pages in mine. No idea what it's meant to be.

On ours it is visible as a slightly lighter patch in the background of the photos but not on their faces

Not sure as waiting on my renewal one too.

The new passports are weird, they have all kinds of strange blobs and scratchy lines. Supposedly makes them less easy to fake or alter.

You can actually see it in this official video at around the 7 seconds mark, so it seemingly is meant to be there. It looks like someone spilt bleach on it to me 😂.
