Being induced tomorrow, baby has stopped growing

elm26 · 16/05/2023 21:49

Posting for traffic, I don't know if I need a handhold, to hear others stories of similar or just to offload my anxiety.

38 weeks and 2 days, went for a growth scan today and to my shock, they've asked me to go home and get stuff ready and be back in for 10am tomorrow for induction.

Reason for scans throughout is history of 13 miscarriages, covid in pregnancy and a previous low lying placenta (had moved up at 36 week scan).

Baby hasn't grown much if at all since 2 weeks ago, they sent me up to ward for monitoring and baby's movements and heart rate are fine, my fluid is fine but my placenta has more or less stopped working. Blood flow and oxygen okay.

I was due to be induced on due date, thought I'd have some time to prepare myself and relax but I'm in a tizz now. We've got everything and babies bag and mine is ready to go but I feel so rushed and unprepared now 😢

I'm worried about about her, they've put her estimated weight at 6lb but advised me to grab some tiny baby clothes if I hadn't already so we made a last minute trip to Asda tonight for those, just bought 8 vests and 8 babygrows in case she's bigger than expected.

They will be using the rods and see how I get on but I'm so scared all of a sudden.

Any words or wisdom or advice? Thank you x

Oh OP. Even if they can get your waters broken, it could still be Monday....Tuesday even before baby arrives...and even then it might end up a section anyway. I'd be telling them to quit poking at me and get on with a nice, calm elective section while you still have a bit of energy left

Hope you're okay OP 💐

Just checking in on you OP

I hope things have progressed for you

My biggest memory of this time was the absolute sheer exhaustion when ds arrived. My best advice to you once your baby is here and you are home is to sleep when the baby sleeps and try to recover your equilibrium. Induction can be an absolutely brutal and draining process Flowers

Thanks everyone so much, you have no idea how less alone you've all made me feel through the night when DH isn't here.

Last night felt really scary, I was laying here convincing myself that something will happen to me or baby. I think I'm just exhausted. I must have fell asleep eventually, woke up in a cold sweat at 5am but was grateful it was getting light. Everything seems better in the day for some reason.

Baby has been monitored and heartbeat and movements are good. A lovely midwife took me through to the closed ward to get my soap, towel and razor and I stood under the shower water for about 15 minutes just breathing, feel a little better now I've had a shower and some self care. Feels nice to be fresh and moisturised and in clean PJs. It's the little things isn't it 😅

Trying to find some strength internally to think some positive thoughts, the lady in the queue in front of me has been taken through to delivery so I'm next 🙏🏻

You poor thing, what a time you're having. Here's hoping you'll have your beautiful baby in your arms really soon.

RomComPhooey · 21/05/2023 08:01

Hi OP. I’ve only had a read through your posts, not the replies. I wasn’t brought in early because of concerns about the baby, but I did have a stop-start induction over several days. I was already exhausted by the time they decided to give me syntocin. Even then my labour wasn’t progressing well and I had an emergency CS. I wanted to reassure you that a CS is OK. The recovery is slower than a vaginal delivery, but I just wanted my baby safely in my arms & a CS achieved that. The obstetrician told me my cervix was so swollen from being poked and prodded (10 sweeps by then plus monitoring) she thought it was unlikely I could fully dilate. I’d listen to the advice you are being given and be guided by your medical team.

RomComPhooey · 21/05/2023 08:02

Good luck today, by the way - hope all goes well. 🤞

Vallmo47 · 21/05/2023 08:30

I can’t believe you’re still waiting to meet your baby after 4 days of this OP. We wouldn’t even treat animals like this … their well being would be highest priority. For this to become a c section after having been through all of the above, ridiculous. I’m in awe of your resilience and patience - you will meet your baby soon. Sending love

standardduck · 21/05/2023 08:36

Good luck, OP Flowers

I hope you'll get to meet your baby today.

Americano75 · 21/05/2023 08:37

Gah, if you have her today she'll have the same birthday as me!

WaltzingWaters · 21/05/2023 08:48

Hope you have your baby in your arms very soon. I had a very long labour which ended in a c section. If that’s what it’s coming to/you’re that exhausted/baby or you become distressed, go for it. I did after 3 days in labour and the surgeon said the baby never would have made it out vaginally as my pelvis isn’t the right shape.

either way, best of luck and hope baby is safely in your arms soon! 💐

I went through similar with one of mine. I was scanned at 38 weeks as I was measuring small and told baby wasn't growing and would be 5lb maximum. This was the Friday. I was booked to be induced on the Monday. Very luckily I started having contractions before going in to be induced and she was eventually born a very healthy 7lb!
It sounds so exhausting for you. It will be your turn soon 💐 looking forward to your news.

Floralnomad · 21/05/2023 10:01

Good luck for today @elm26

Cakeandcookies · 21/05/2023 10:16

Good luck OP. You must be exhausted but a shower does make you feel so much better. You can do this and lets hope today is your babys birthday! :) xx

Moonchild79 · 21/05/2023 10:18

You must be both exhausted and excited. Not long now. You’ve coped amazingly well and once you’re holding your little miracle what has gone before some how melts always 🌸

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 21/05/2023 10:51

You’re a saint OP, I’d have lost my shit with everyone and his dog long before now!! (Which obviously wouldn’t be helpful.) May babies have the best birthdays, hoping your LO is a today baby.

happy birthday @Americano75 !

elm26 · 21/05/2023 11:33

Happy birthday @Americano75 🎉

Waters are gone and I’m in pain lol 45 minutes until they put me on that hormone drip to speed things up. Consultant wants her born today 🙏🏻🤞🏻

The hormone drip is intense but does get things going. You may want to get an epidural before the drip though!

Fingers crossed for you

Longdarkcloud · 21/05/2023 11:45

You will most likely have your DD by the time you return to MN. Hoping you are feeling top of the world. Be interesting to see baby’s weight. I was told DD was small for dates etc so was induced but she was only at the lower end of average. But better to be safe than sorry. Blessings on all your family.
The worries won’t stop but just the nature of them will change lol!
