UTI treatment?

Indoorvoicesbluey · 15/05/2023 23:50

I’m due on any day as well so have really bad period pains and I think I’m brewing a uti/cystitis. I haven’t left the toilet for longer than 5 mins. It feels like I need a wee bit I don’t but with extra period pains.

iv taken paracetamol but not helping :( I want to sleep but I can’t lie down without needing to get up for a wee every 5 mins :(

Sounds like you may need antibiotics, the doctor can test a urine sample to check if it is a UTI. Drink lots of water in the mean time to help flush it out or maybe a hot water bottle to ease the pain.

Go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Don't leave it, it will only get worse.

Indoorvoicesbluey · 15/05/2023 23:54

I’m going to first thing in the morning but I don’t know how I’m supposed to sleep tonight lol :(

I had this a few months ago and I drank loads and loads of water and after a couple days it started to get better. Absolutely horrendous until then though

Tofuislovely · 15/05/2023 23:59

Antibiotics and then d-mannose to keep it away.

Indoorvoicesbluey · 16/05/2023 20:50

Can’t get a doctors appointment until tomorrow. Didn’t get sleep until 7am this morning. Iv drank lots of cranberry juice and cystitis relief stuff. Taken painfkillers but I can’t leave the toilet. It was ok most of the day but it’s got progressively worse. I feel like my bladder is contracting and nothing is coming out. Every time I stand the urge to wee comes. Honestly at breaking point :(

I ignored the early signs of cystitis last week and ended up in hospital - twice. Trust me whatever you’re feeling now it can be a hell of a lot worse.

If it’s so bad you can’t keep off the toilet it’s classed as inhibiting you from carrying out normal activities and I’d say it’s worth a 111 call to get referred onto your local out of hours for antibiotics tonight.

Honestly I am standing in solidarity with you- I’d rather have a broken leg than a UTI any day. Such a unrelenting pain.

Lie in a warm bath, and try and relax. I've lost count of the amount of hours I've spent lying in my bath waiting for antibiotics to kick in.

Indoorvoicesbluey · 16/05/2023 21:13

I’m scared to go walk in, I can’t stand up to go to bed, let alone driving far and having to sit in a waiting room 😩

Oh bless you! Can you get to an out of hours? I know it's uncomfortable but you may get some rest tonight if you can

You need to get an appointment because it’s only going to get worse. Trust me - it’ll hurt like hell for about ten minutes until you’re in the car and then driving will offer enough of a distraction to get you there and back. Hot water bottle on your lap.

I was where you are right now last week and had to drive myself in. They kept me in.

They’re going to want a urine sample off you too so you need to try and keep drinking so you have something.
