Using Nivea Soft as my night moisturiser?!

I usually use Elemis but times are tough at the moment so needed something cheap. I have just put it on my face and it was a bit thicker and tackier somehow than I am used to. Have I just made a big mistake? I have acne prone skin!

I have religiously used the blue tub nivea since my teens morning and night. The feature I am most complimented on is my skin. Even a make up artist said my skin was amazing and like “glass skin”. I absolutely love it although understand it’s not for everyone.

what other skincare products do you use please?

You need something less heavy

I've got some old no7 creams which I palmed off on DH when I switched to Elemis, so going to steal them back until I find a cheaper alternative or the cash flow situation improves

(btw, I agree and would never use credit just for this sort of thing. if I haven't got the money for it, I am not having it!)

I use Nivea soft. I’m not an expert on moisturisers but I like how it feels and I like the smell. I had a more expensive moisturiser and every time I used it I ended up with breakouts.

DaisyDreaming · 16/05/2023 11:08

There’s a nivea one with a spf now for a day cream too

I'm a big fan of the Cetaphil Night Cream! Lovely and moisturising without being too heavy and has never caused my sensitive skin to break out. It's about £6.50ish on Amazon so a bit pricey but cheaper than Elemis :)

For those asking about SPF- please use a separate one! You need more than you think to get adequate coverage, more than you'd use of a foundation or even a moisturiser unless you're slathering it on.

A good quality factor 50 face SPF on top of your moisturiser is what you need- and don't forget your neck either.

MoggyMittens23 · 16/05/2023 12:48

Yes, always use a separate spf!!

I recommend sticking with elemis but use something like clearpay/klarna to spread the cost (I buy from Look Fantastic)

I also recommend liz earle moisturiser. Cheaper than elemis but without that tacky cheap clogging feeling on your skin.

Really! In touch times you'd suggest someone pays off a luxury cream in installments!

OP don't do that. Just because Nivea soft doesn't suit. There are lots and lots of less expensive night creams which will do the job just as well as Elemis.

Nivea soft is lovely stuff but sadly brings me out in tiny bumps after about a week, shame as it makes my skin lovely before that happens. I use CeraVe now.

Don't worry I wouldn't!
