Using Nivea Soft as my night moisturiser?!

I usually use Elemis but times are tough at the moment so needed something cheap. I have just put it on my face and it was a bit thicker and tackier somehow than I am used to. Have I just made a big mistake? I have acne prone skin!

give it a try.
personally I don't like the scent of the white one.
the blue stuff is great after a chemical peel, but can't use it every night as it's too rich for me.

weleda skinfood light version however is fab as night cream.

My skin only likes Clinique 🙄i tried to get along with some of the Aldi brands and just didn't do the job. I normally check the ok beauty box and see if they have a night time moisturiser in the latest box and get that.

My skin only used to like Clinique too. But now it also likes Cerave and Elf.

I use niven soft (white tube) other than when my dermatitisis is bad, when I switch to aqueous cream.
I have hormonal, acne prone skin and haven't found that either makes it worse (or better).

greenacrylicpaint · 15/05/2023 20:28

using buy-now-pay-later to pay for basic skincare is just bonkers.

First of all foundation with SPF is totally inadequate .

Secondly , I'm shocked and concerned that anyone would use buy now pay later for this . You do not need it . Nobody does . It's not budgeting , it's credit .

Follow Dr Spierings and educate yourself on the nonsense of the skincare industry

I think it depends how you use it. I sometimes use zilch which splits payments, if it's 2 days before pay day and there's a sale on the product I have run out of but the sale ends in 1 day
Rather than waiting for 48hrs to order and paying full price
Then my wage goes in and I pay off the full amount
And yes I use SPF

I have discovered by accident (tan out of proper night cream) that my face loves Atrixo as a moisturiser. Yes, the really cheap, old fashioned hand cream that you can get for about £3.00 for a massive pot from places like Savers. I know it shouldn’t work but somehow it does - on its own as a night cream and followed by SPF 50 during the day.

Writerscompanion · 15/05/2023 20:39

I love Nivea soft and have used it for years. I have various more expensive day and night creams and serums etc which I always forget to use and end up coming back to NS. After cleansing, my dry skin just wants the lovely cool moisture and it always feels and smells really nice after applying. My partner always comments how he loves the smell when I've just put it on.

I was just thinking the other day how it's one of life's little pleasures that doesn't cost barely anything!

Atrixo! My nan used to use Atrixo. You've unleashed a long forgotten memory there. And now i remember that my other nan used to always use Astral cream.

One of them also had the blue pot Nivea as well. I think it was Astral nan. As a little girl i would have a sneaky poke about in their cosmetics and loved the smell of all the creams!

I don't remember what my mum used to use though, oddly.

I've used Nivea Soft as a night and day cream for years and love it

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 15/05/2023 21:20

How about buying a face cream that ISN'T tested on animals?

mydoghasanattitude · 16/05/2023 05:36

I use CeraVe after a dermatologist specifically recommended it for use on my face. It hasn't caused me any breakouts in the several years I've used it, and it goes a long way.

Same! I really rate it. It's good for face and body too so really convenient.

At the moment I'm using Skin and Me tretinoin at night and then Nivea Soft plus vaseline during the day. Plus SPF.

OP you don't look greasy, you look dewy.

GreenIsle · 16/05/2023 06:03

Can I ask those whose use Nivea soft at night, what's on you use during the day under makeup and any ones with spf that's not expensive.

Overitx · 16/05/2023 06:04

I have religiously used the blue tub nivea since my teens morning and night. The feature I am most complimented on is my skin. Even a make up artist said my skin was amazing and like “glass skin”. I absolutely love it although understand it’s not for everyone.

PerryMenno · 16/05/2023 06:15

There's something harsh in Nivea Soft, I can feel the sting if for example I've just dermaplaned or used depilatory cream. And my skin is not normally sensitive. The blue Nivea is much more soothing as a night cream.

Dobby123456 · 16/05/2023 06:30

It works fine for me.

pokabubble · 16/05/2023 06:58

You're better off looking at cerave or cetaphil, something in the "specialist skincare" bit at boots. They come in large packages and are designed for specific skin needs. A little more pricey than niven but cheaper than elemis.

scrivette · 16/05/2023 07:04

My mum and I both use Nivea Soft and really like it.

Odile13 · 16/05/2023 07:19

I have used Nivea Soft as my only moisturiser for about 20 years - I love it! Works for me.

RHOShitVille · 16/05/2023 08:40

I have really sensitive skin and lots of things just make it sting and go red. I use aveeno and Nivea soft (and occasionally slather on the creme at night as a sort of mask which seems in overnight).

I mix the dermalogica 50 spf booster to get the SPF factor.

Whatabouteverything · 16/05/2023 09:16

pokabubble · 15/05/2023 19:32

And what if you lose your job in month 2 and are then left with £20 worth of cream to pay off

Then you've got savings? Everyone has savings to back up if they lose their job right? As I said, people need to use facilities such as klarna etc responsibly, just telling someone not to use anything like that at all is silly and narrow minded. Did you save up for a house or use a mortgage? A car?

Blossomandbee · 16/05/2023 09:23

Try the tubes of Nivea moisturiser if you find the Nivea Soft too heavy for your skin. They do them for different skin types and they have spf.
I can't use the blue tub Nivea as it breaks me out in spots.

MoggyMittens23 · 16/05/2023 09:52

So... it did make my skin nice and soft but I have a couple of spots this morning! So, won't use that on my face again. But reason we tried this one first is we can easily use the cream up on our bodies and the kids, so it won't go to waste. Will look into some of the other recommendations!
