Anyone else worried about how quickly AI (chat bots etc) is advancing?

It just seems to me that it is only a matter of time until it all gets out of control.

I think it's definitely something that needs keeping an eye on.

missmollygreen · 14/05/2023 20:19

Its too late to worry about it now

No

Muddygreenfingers · 14/05/2023 20:36

Well yes, it is worrying.

That said if AI doesn't kill us, something else will, like nuclear bombs or climate change.

Morbid I know, but it sort of helps me mentally to think we're all fucked anyway. The planet is at least.

They are everywhere but pretty limited still. Cannot handle anything off script and I generally end up not getting any sort of resolution.

No point worrying about something we have zero control over. Just enjoy your life.

There is always hysteria about exaggerated dangers of new technology. I am more worried about travelling by train - and I don't mean the chance of crashing or being assaulted.

Travelling by train leads to headaches, deafness, incessant noise in the ears, sleeplessness, depression, numbness of the limbs, chilliness, softening of the brain, spinal softening, epileptic seizures, and apoplexy (The Lancet 1862). If a woman sets out for a journey by rail the day before her menses should appear, she will be very apt to skip one period, and perhaps more. As an indirect consequence, she will be likely to suffer from some form of uterine flexion or dislocation (New England Medical Gazette 1870).
