Not really an aibu just thought I'd get more replies here.

So I've been invited to a baby shower at the weekend. Something I'm not into or have ever been to. Got to go due to it being a family members and don't want to let her down.

My question is what do you buy and what exactly happens at one of these?

It’s a party basically for the new arrival! You play games like guess the babies weight, have some food and drink and generally a nice time. She may have a list? Ask whoever arranged it. If not, a gift for baby or for her.

Thanks for that. She's arranged it herself so would like to get her a surprise gift, she's not stated what she wants or needs. More than likely not much!
As they an all day thing or just for s couple of hours? Just says a start time not finish

Usually just a few hours, and a gift for the baby

How about a gift of mum-to-be toiletries and a little cuddly toy/comforter for baby?

I haven't had one myself (youngest is 12 and they weren't so common then) but I've been to family members' ones. Often preschooler children of the invitees were also there and catered for. Games and gifts which were all opened at the event.
