Does this sound rude?

I’m just about to send a WhatsApp party invite. My child just started new school last term so I don’t know parents very well. So I’m writing along the lines (this is NOT word for word) of “details of party….I hope you can make it. RSVP date is… if I don’t get a response by the RSVP date I’ll assume your child will NOT be attending x”

the bit I’m unsure of is “if I don’t get a response by x day I’ll assume your child will NOT attend”.

im just worried incase this sounds rude? But I also want to be clear if they don’t respond on time there don’t be a space as I will be inviting cousins, old school friends etc, and places are limiting - I’m obviously not gonna write this out this in the message but just what wrote above in quotes. Rude or not rude?

Maybe add in "as I need to confirm numbers by xxx if I don't hear from you..."

The invite is for whole class. Last school was a nightmare as some people didn’t respond even though I knew them very well! They just turned up on the day and I had already paid for X amount of kids.

@trisfreya but the venue will allow people to just turn up on the day as it’s that kind of activity. How else can I phrase it?

It’s a bit blunt! I’d change it to something like “please let me know by X date as numbers are tight” then chase up the day after the deadline to non-responders before assuming they’re not coming.

I’d just say, ‘I’ll be confirming numbers on xx and won’t be able to add extra after that. Please let me know in time so your child doesn’t miss out’

How about if your unable to attend then no need to respond. Therefore if they don't respond then they aren't going,

Don't use the caps on NOT , that is rude. Apart from that it's fine

NOT is extremely rude, not would be much better

Please let me know by Date. I can only pay for people who respond on here. There is a long waiting list of cousins wanting to go so if your child wants to go, get your name down now!

Thank you all! I had a feeling it might be rude. Gosh! So glad I didn’t send it now. I’ll send it tomorrow morning. I’m still really nervous sending it, I don’t know them very well but thought whole class invite might be nice.

It does sound rude. I would reword it "if you could please let me know by X date so I can confirm numbers with the venue."

Getting RSVPs is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.

It’s beyond frustrating lol… be very to the point or you’ll be chasing things up for days!
