Bin collections

DH & I had a house converted into flats a few years ago. We live upstairs. We have two tenants downstairs. We all have our own entrances, own car parking spot on the drive, our own bins, our own gardens. We all kind of moved in around the same time, never had any issues with them at all, we don’t see eachother much unless it’s in passing and DH has other dealings with them as the landlord as and when.

All the bins are labelled but I don’t personally mind if someone uses our bin. Usually doesn’t make a difference to me.

Last few months my bins for my flat are over flowing and I take my time out to push the rubbish down or sort the recycling bits.

It’s not my rubbish that is causing the bins to be full but I still keep quiet. Twice now the bin men haven’t emptied my bin, because early hours on bin day, someone has gone and put more rubbish into an already full bin. The lid didn’t shut properly, bags hanging out, so they’ve just left it on the drive like that. All other bins have been emptied.

How do I go about this? I know it’s just a bin but it’s getting a little annoying now.

The bins are the bigger sized ones as well. So 3 for general waste, 3 for recycling, 3 food caddies and 3 garden waste bins too. It’s the general waste bin I’m having problems with.

You can get magnetic bin locks. Nobody can get into the bin then, other than you and the lorry.

Get a bin lock. They only open (unless you have the key) when they’re turned upside down by the collection lorry
