About 2 years ago, our neighbours started some extension work on their house. While the scaffolders were putting up scaffolding, they must have stood on our fence and it broke. We had a letter from our neighbours effectively apologising for this. Apparently their builders won't come back to put it back up and it's been two years now! Of course, we would have thought it would be normal in this situation - seeing as their builders broke it, that they are responsible for mending the fence?! There is no sign that they have any intention of doing so, and they even told us the builders said we needed to 'suck it up ourselves?' I actually can't believe people would not do the right thing. We are not sure what to do now; what would you suggest please? Thanks so much! x

Ask them to sort it out?

Small claims court. Sorry won’t fix this

Get three quotes for fixing or replacing it, send them along with a letter asking for payment within 28 days, if not then small claims.

I think 2 years on I’d have just gotten on with replacing it myself by now.
I understand that the accident wasn’t caused by you but we’ve spent a lot of money getting our garden nice and I’d just want it rectified as soon as possible so I could continue to enjoy it.
