It's a lovely book, and I've read it so often over the last 30 years that none of it comes as a surprise, but reading it to dgd tonight and I cried before I even got to the last page.

AIBU to hide the bloody book until dgd is 18 or so?

Is that the one where he dies? The animation is heartbreaking every time....

My dad used to watch it with all his grandchildren and now he's gone - we all sat and watched it the night before his funeral. The place was awash.....

Oh god, is that the one the film is based on? I watched it loads as a child. I couldn't bring myself to watch it as an adult.
