I think I have covid

So up until today our home has never had covid. However over the weekend myself and my daughter have been unwell although different symptoms. We both have fever and headache but she is blocked up and I have very sore tonsils and cough.

I have been testing all weekend and all have been negative however when my daughter asked to take today off school so I tested her and she was positive.

My tests were just out of date so on my way to work I bought new ones. I am still negative and she is positive on my very old tests, slightly old tests and new.

We were out for a family dinner last Monday 4/5 days before we got ill so I am convinced that we got it there and that I will eventually get a positive.

What do you think?

Thanks

You may well have or have had it and recovered before testing.

What's your AIBU?

TizerorFizz · 09/05/2023 17:47

It’s absolutely not certain you will. My DD has often been around people who then tested positive (including me but I didn’t know at the time) and has never tested positive herself. Like many illnesses, some people just don’t seem to get it. Just carry on. It’s no longer a world emergency. If you are positive, just stay home.

And what?

ChannelyourinnerElsa · 09/05/2023 17:49

What do I think? Nothing. You might have it, you might not. Manage your symptoms like
you would normally- it matters not what strain of virus you have at this point.

tikkanaan · 09/05/2023 17:49

I do not think it would be unreasonable of you to avoid carehomes and test again in two days

DanceMonster · 09/05/2023 17:50

Yes you might have covid. Or you might not. Hope you feel better soon.

CheeseToasty · 09/05/2023 17:50

AIBU to think I do.

I know it’s not a big deal now but my mum visited us and she is older and has copd so I still worry. I know it won’t make a difference now.
