We had quiche, salad and baked potato for lunch.
I offered MIL an omelette for tea and she said it was too main mealy.
I'm wondering now if is too much egg.
I really can't seem to please her.
Minor point I know, but I've had 4 days of her….

Too eggy.

tulippa · 08/05/2023 19:01

Yeah, that's lots of egg.

Pottedpalm · 08/05/2023 19:02

Too much egg

ColouringPencils · 08/05/2023 19:02

I wouldn't call omelette too main mealy. I would be more likely to have it for lunch. Sounds like she's been there for too long!

OrwellianTimes · 08/05/2023 19:02

Far too much egg!

Oysterbabe · 08/05/2023 19:03

I wouldn't want quiche then omelette as consecutive meals. Too eggy.

LouLou198 · 08/05/2023 19:03

I'm confused as to what "main mealy" means? I'm assuming the omelette you offered was the evening meal? How can it them be too "main mealy"??

MrsTWH · 08/05/2023 19:04

It is too much egg for me really but I don’t think an omelette is too main meal!

rumbusiness · 08/05/2023 19:04

Sorry but that sounds grim. Quiche is my horror-food anyway but being offered quiche then omelette is just a highway to sulphurous hell.

pigsDOfly · 08/05/2023 19:06

Very similar sort of meals, too much egg in one day.

Also don't understand how omelette is 'too main mealy' though; more like something to have for a light lunch.

Dartmoorcheffy · 08/05/2023 19:06

Quiche is just an omelette in pastry. I would want so much egg .

Anonymous48 · 08/05/2023 19:07

I wouldn't think of an omelet as being a main meal, unless it was served with salad, potatoes etc. But I certainly wouldn't want quiche for one of my meals in a day and then an omelet for the other!

ReadersD1gest · 08/05/2023 19:09

She probably didn't want to say "God, not more bloody eggs!", op.

ThinWomansBrain · 08/05/2023 19:09

I wouldn't mind the doubling up - but I love egg.
Omelette is only main mealy if it comes with chips

Chees & biscuits?

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 08/05/2023 19:12

how about scrabbled eggs? or poached eggs on toast? Wink

she'll take the hint and run for the hills soon enough

Kpo58 · 08/05/2023 19:12

Maybe she meant too lunchy? Both omelette and quiche are light meals/lunch to me.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 08/05/2023 19:13

I think she was trying to be polite after being offered more eggs Grin

mrsdolittle · 08/05/2023 19:14

I would be happy with that. Love both quiche and omelette. Can I come to yours for tea OP? 😁

EV4ME · 08/05/2023 19:15

I'd like to know where you source your eggs in large enough quantities to offer egg based meals throughout the day.

Sparkletastic · 08/05/2023 19:18

Eggtastic

Any supermarket, I'd say? They're not rationed.

PurpleFlower1983 · 08/05/2023 19:21

Far too eggy!

LordEmsworth · 08/05/2023 19:24

I would happily have quiche for lunch and omelette for tea, I don't understand this "too many eggs" concept. By that logic, you couldn't have a chicken sandwich for lunch and roast chicken for dinner, or sausages for breakfast and pork chop for lunch...

If you can't please someone, there's no point fretting about it. Just do what you like and let her have a cob on.

Flowertight · 08/05/2023 19:26

The thought of that much egg made me retch a little

Likewhatever · 08/05/2023 19:27

Your appetite tends to diminish as you get older, I know mine has. Perhaps what she meant was that it was too substantial for her. Offer something on toast?
