Why do I need to get a code on my phone to pay suppliers if anything's 1p over £200? Tesco, looking at you.. I shop with you at least once a week.. surely your system knows me by now?
I know it's not a huge thing.. but it does niggle me!

It's a safety feature most people welcome.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 08/05/2023 12:57

Its not Tesco, It is the Bank.

CuriousMama · 08/05/2023 12:57

Yes definitely the best way to shop

Sissynova · 08/05/2023 12:57

Is this not a check from your own bank not the company?

DamnAndDashIt · 08/05/2023 12:58

I don't think Tesco give a shit, do they?

Tinkerbyebye · 08/05/2023 12:58

It’s the bank, not Tesco. Take it up with them

AllOrNothingSituation · 08/05/2023 12:59

Why do you think it’s Tesco?

AndAllOurYesterdays · 08/05/2023 13:01

Assume she has a Tesco credit card. I've got one and yes they are always asking for codes for tiny amounts. I do find it slightly annoying but assume it's for a good reason.

HelpMeGetThrough · 08/05/2023 13:01

Tesco, looking at you.. I shop with you at least once a week..

They are probably waving and smiling and saying "nothing to do with us Guv"

TeenLifeMum · 08/05/2023 13:03

I used my Tesco credit card for a 6k payment and didn’t have to put in a code. Sometimes my NatWest card asks me to confirm in the app before progressing but not every time.

notquitesoyoung · 08/05/2023 13:04

It's the bank and all about liability. I can't remember exactly but think when chip & pin was introduced the liability went from bank to customer. This is the online equivalent or something like that. The retailer might be in the mix with liability too.

It does it on my Halifax and not just for Tesco 🤷🏻‍♀️

🤣

slashlover · 08/05/2023 13:22

It's the bank, not Tesco. I have to get the code to pay my rent on the council website, the rent for the address the card is linked to.

CharlottenBerg · 08/05/2023 13:29

In the last couple of weeks I have bought a £40 toaster, a £30 kettle, and a £250 used business laptop, and each time I had to supply a code from my bank. It's not Tesco. If it stops some chancer defrauding me I'm happy.
