Neighbours mail

Not an AIBU exactly, but advice needed.

Ever since I moved into my flat a year ago, I have been receiving mail which belongs to my neighbour.

It's from Companies House, most recent saying "immediate action required" and some other brown enveloped stuff.

It's not a massive deal to stick it in his letter box, but should I be asking him to change the address in case it's messing with my credit rating or anything?

As I said, this has been since I moved in, so think the previous owners probably received them too.

Write on 'not at this address' and stick it back in the post box... When he is sat waiting for important stuff coming he can get more organised..

It would make more sense to tell him. I can’t say I really give much attention to the address on mail which comes through the letterbox, I just scan to see if it’s for me or DH and then open it, your neighbour may not have even noticed the door number is wrong. Just knock on the door and point it out or put a note through door saying same.

This. Send it back to the company.

I had similar years ago, only I was getting post from HMRC addressed to his company . At the time HMRC had local offices and I took the post into them and told them that the company was nothing to do with me and confirmed in writing, as advised by my accountant friend.
Also got his car insurance renewals to our address although we later found out that he had been banned from driving.
He left his wife shortly afterwards and she claimed not to know where he had gone.

You can check the address is correct on Companies House. Do you share a postcode? It won't affect your credit rating.

As others have suggested but also try the above. It works.
