AIBU to be a bit annoyed

Neighbours have decided to get a trampoline, it's literally the biggest thing I've ever seen, takes over the whole garden... whatever they want in their garden that's not my business.. but what's annoying me is anytime the kids and multiple kids friends are on the trampoline which is for hours after school, in the evening.. they can see straight into my house, so I'm in the kitchen or trying to have dinner, or just relaxing on the couch and the kids are bouncing and trying to get my attention or wave or just constantly staring in. (They don't even need to jump to see in, it's a very very high trampoline so even just sitting on it they are able to see straight in)

I know they're only kids and they are only having a bit of fun, but it's just really annoying me and now I feel I've no privacy

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

Just put some privacy film on the windows. It's not expensive and can be easily taken or moved if needed - it won't cause any damage.

I appreciate it's a bit annoying but there doesn't need to be all this angst about it.

Net curtains? Is this 1957?

I love my nets! Especially when the cats sit on the windowsill with the nets over their faces and I can pretend they're little brides

I love this 😂🐈‍⬛👰🏽‍♀️😍

WoMandalorian · 07/05/2023 12:34

You can buy privacy one way window film. It means you can see out but it has a mirror effect for people outside looking in. I have it on my windows as we have a bus stop outside our living room window.

Circe32 · 07/05/2023 13:07

Pop round for a chat as a considerate neighbour and mention that you are rather concerned about their precious kiddies becoming traumatised.

"As you may know, we are committed nudists and you may not want them to see us doing naked housework.

Or even having s3x" 😱
The suggestion of sinking the trampoline might be welcomed😂

coffeewithmilk · 07/05/2023 13:46

Thanks everyone for your suggestions: some very loud SIGHHHS coming from me and DH over the weekend when we were trying to sit in the garden has now resulted in neighbour at the moment putting up some sort of black thick material around the trampoline.. I'm guessing they got the hint!
Laughing at the suggestion of scattering bird feed on the trampoline though!

Also love the suggestion of the privacy film, will give that a look.
Thanks everyone!

My neighbours at the back (we all have long gardens) have just moved their kids trampoline right up against my fence. The same fence their kids have spent two years breaking slats off kicking their footballs so hard against it. They've moved their netted goal. The back half of my garden is fenced off down the middle so my rabbits can have full roam. So now instead of them being hit by footballs (three times that I've seen), the kids are standing on the trampoline and hanging their upper halves over the (now very weak and battered) fence shouting "BUNNIES!"
If I try to repair the fence the kids crowd round their side, pull at the loose slats and shout at me.
Hell is other people Angry

🤬

Do you not have curtains or blinds?

GoodChat · 08/05/2023 06:27

Clearly I didnt see it and you did. So you choose to comment twice to be patronising without adding anything to the conversation. Well done you 🙄

We have put a Mirrored film on our kitchen window for similar reasons we can see out but they can’t see in 2 windows doing cost us around £ 70.00 some one came and did them for us a bit like a screen protector on an iPad or mobile phone.

MMUmum · 08/05/2023 18:28

Attach a trellis to the top of the fence, not too expensive but effective

midsomermurderess · 08/05/2023 18:42

Won’t the novelty wear off at some point. Yes, annoying while it lasts, of course.

GoodChat · 08/05/2023 19:07

@LT1982 my first response to you was the exact response you gave to OP so if you think I'm patronising then... 🤷‍♀️

Nothingisblackandwhite · 08/05/2023 19:18

But privacy screen for the windows the one you can see from the inside but they can’t see you . It’s very cheap .
Let the kids be kids

I don't think being kids stretches to staring in to someone else's windows. If they're bouncing and happen to face OP's direction that's fine but not just sitting there staring in

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 08/05/2023 19:30

Washing line across bottom of garden. Sheets, pegs, couple of props, jobs a good un

Get some of that reflective film so in the day you can see out but they can't see in. Really reasonable on Amazon. Either that or additional screening on the fence but I think the windows would be easier and cheaper.

Pumpkinspice13 · 08/05/2023 20:15

Get tint put on your windows. We have it on ours. In the day time we can see out but no one can see in. It helps keep the room cooler in the summer too.

Yellowsnowtogo · 08/05/2023 20:19

@juless77 what film did you use?
