I have just realised that my employer has reduced my pension contributions (both employer and employee) after I returned from mat leave.
I was on the higher rate of contribution before mat leave, then when I returned they moved me on to their new payroll system which accidentally defaulted me back to the basic level of contributions (3% employer 5% employee).
I must admit I've been an idiot and not noticed this until now and I've been back at work for a year now. I raised it today and they admitted what's happened.
Are they allowed to amend my pension contributions without my consent? Do they have any obligation to back pay their under payments? Or are they allowed to say "sorry about that" and move on?
