What the fuck is wrong with me!

for around 3 months now I’ve had horrible itching. It comes and goes but when it comes it’s awful. I end up scratching my skin to the point I get petechiae all over me. It’s mainly on my arms and chest and shoulders area but sometimes happens on my legs aswell. I don’t get any hives or welts and my skin doesn’t look any different (until I get petechiae after I’ve itches) just extreme itching and it’s awful.

it’s not a reaction to something. I stopped using all products, (both for washing my clothes and washing me!) I even tried a week of new clothes and it still happened. I’ve also had skin allergy testing which was completely negative. I’ve done diets and cut things out of my life and it’s made no difference. It started yesterday in the shower before i went to bed (I hadn’t used any products) and I had to scratch my skin so hard I’m now covered in petechiae.

I don’t know if it’s related but I’ve been so, so tired recently too. Like to the point I need to sleep for 10 hours at night and nap in between work and going to bed. Im really struggling to stay awake and I feel so drained. My joints especially my knees are agony too. Im in my 20s but I suddenly feel like I’ve got the tired old sore body of a 90 year old. I had blood tests for the exhaustion (I fell asleep waiting for a bus and was sleeping for 2 hours- this was after sleeping for 10 hours the night before. When I eventually got on the bus I fell asleep. Then I went home and fell asleep again. Im just so tired and t
drained but the doctor said it was just anxiety because I had a full blood test which was fine. I don’t know if it’s related the itching or not but it started round about the same time, the tiredness possibly before but they’re both new problems.

does anyone know what the f could be wrong with me?!

Itching can be a sign of liver problems, has your liver been checked?

Theunamedcat · 03/05/2023 17:08

The Dr said everything was "fine" was anything borderline?

Nutsabouttopic · 03/05/2023 17:10

Go back to the doctor and demand tests on your liver. My aunt drove us all insane with her constant scratching and falling asleep midst conversation. It turned out it was her liver failing. She never drank alcohol it had been caused by a virus. I'm glad to report that 14years after a liver transplant she is still healthy and happy

Poetnojo · 03/05/2023 17:12

I was going to say the itching could be liver related too. The fatigue and aching joints though could be something auto immune. I had Sarcoidosis for years and had lots of different symptoms coming and going that was finally diagnosed after a chest xray then follow up lung biopsy. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Go to yr Gp don’t ask on internet sites for medical help.

FlorenceOrTheMachine · 03/05/2023 17:18

Have you had a full blood count? If not insist on one. There are lot's of scary health problems associated with some of your symptoms (I know, I've got one). A blood analysis should rule some of these out. Hope you get it sorted.

BallandBoe · 03/05/2023 17:23

I have all those symptoms; turns out I am severely deficient in vitamin D.

However, as people have said, go see your GP.

Deanie02 · 03/05/2023 17:24

Any itching they should check your liver and do a scan this is how I felt when I developed primary billiary cholengitis.

ickky · 03/05/2023 17:47

I thought liver too. Get a print out of your test results and look up each one. Tell your doctor you need further investigation as it is not right.

Also Vit d and B12 are good for energy boost.

rachel574 · 03/05/2023 17:51

For me, it was triggered my anaemia. After taking iron pills, the itching went away.

duende · 03/05/2023 18:00

Have you been checked for diabetes? I think it can cause itching and tiredness.

Did you actually read the OP before making your snarky comment?

bloodywhitecat · 03/05/2023 18:07

DH was like this, his was bile duct/liver related.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 03/05/2023 19:10

I’d get checked by the Dr again with having multiple symptoms but just to add, I get really itchy legs when I get too warm, my son also suffers with itchiness which seems to be heat related, worst is hands and feet and is most commonly triggered by having a hot bath or shower (you mention it starting after showering). I mentioned it to the Dr once and she said it had a name (can’t remember it though) and said its fairly common. Not sure if this is something that would suddenly materialise in an adult though.

As someone who has just had their first run in with scabies - I'd treat for that , it's just a cream from chemist . I was scratching my arms and legs raw .

Best mate works with the homeless and we both got it .
