I’m f’ing ill… again. Wtf is wrong with me

I’m ill again… cold, not a huge problem but it’s just so persistent. I’ve literally been consistently ill since November and picked up every mother ducking but since I caught covid in July of last year.

i wake up feeling like death warmed up, constantly exhausted and in some sort of pain. I’ve been to the drs had a blood test they did a fbc, inflammation markers up, low in folate, iron and everything else ok. I had a stool test (so glam) and it had high calprotectin but my colonoscopy was all clear so not clue what that was.

anyone else been just catching everything left right and centre and was able to well, stop? It’s getting a bit embarrassing work wise and I’d be lying if I said it’s not effecting my performance, just feeling lousy all the time.

Deplete not complete. Should proof read.

Oh god me too - I've had two episodes of tonsillitis and have caught every bug going since October!

So, last weekend I made a trip to Holland & Barrett and bought multivitamins and a separate iron tablet. I also started C25K in the mornings before work so hoping that helps my dodgy 40 year old immune system 🤣

I’ve been taking a generic asda brand that had everything In it, should I spruce for some better ones?

I would add on extra iron, vit d and zinc c

Anyone of you lovely lot recommend me a banging multi vit that I can prime and isn’t like swallowing a golf ball?

I get troo multivits from Amazon, also zinc, magnesium and b6.

How about thinking about your gut biome? Boost good bacteria with fresh sauerkraut, kimchi, keffir and kombucha.

also cut down bread products, and drink a munch of water.

try it for two weeks, I BET it will make a difference

Spatone or floradix for the iron.

The vit d/ k2 spray.

And you can get vit c/ zinc tabs which can be dissolved in water to drink.

Yep, I had covid at the beginning of March, gastroentritis mid March, covid again early/mid April, and now I've got a cold. Bit sick of it now!

DoughnutDreams · 02/05/2023 17:56

Covid depletes the immune system, as well as people getting reinfected every other month. It's what living with it looks like if there's no attempt to mitigate spread.

AussieManque · 03/05/2023 06:00

I wear an N95 mask always when I'm in an indoor public place. Does wonders for your health! 🙂

Was your b12 checked? If your folate is low your b12 can't work properly regardless. Don't take anything with b12 in before getting it checked

Aishah231 · 03/05/2023 07:22

The COVID vaccine was criticized from the start as leading to a weakening of the immune response to other diseases/colds. It might be that. Might not be but the people around me do seem to be getting sicker so perhaps someone should investigate.

Research is increasingly showing that your immune response is coming from the bacteria in the gut. You need to feed your gut bacteria to get as many strains in your gut so they can respond quickly to infections.

If you are eating ultra processed foods, white bread for instance there is nothing in there for the good bacteria to eat, it passes through with little nutritional benefit to the body.

Switch your carbs to wholemeal, eat 30 different types of veg, fruit, nuts and seeds a week. Add in live bacteria via kefir, sauerkraut, kombucha. It makes such a difference.

I changed my diet to this last year and had one day this winter when I didn’t feel great.
